stuck, stuck, stuck

    as you surely have noticed, you get stuck very often in empires (more often than in any other game i know). you get stuck most frequently in:
    1. other players (when reviving)
    2. buildings (especially turrets)
    3. terrain (and debris)

    i hate it, when i get stuck in the player i revived (and maybe get shot because i cant move).
    - the revived player should be moved automatically, immediately after reviving.

    isnt easy to fix.
    - i think, it would require less complex colision boxes > less accurate = bad.

    depends mostly on the map.
    - that's why i try to make a list of the places where you get stuck all the time. i hope this helps the mappers to improve the maps.

    if u know a place where u constantly get stuck, pls post it here (with screenshots) and i will add it to the list.

    I just avoid falling onto models when I'm walking down a cliff. Must be why I don't get stuck in the terrain. I expect to get stuck by doing that, in any game, so I just subconsciously avoid doing it.

    What JCW said. Creating invisible collision boxes for stuff that isn't there is pretty silly. If there's a big gaping hole in the middle of a rock formation and you jump in it, you're pretty dumb :p

    Regardless of how intelligent we expect the player base to be, there are quite a few mapping issues that could be cleared up to make everything more enjoyable.

    The one I hate the most is on escort's 1st flag, when you jump down on top of the tank somewhat close to the flag and fall in the hole between the tank and a box. Only turret jumping (ammo crate jumping etc) will get you out.

    But it doesn't work for people who are dumb or just unlucky to jump into a trap where you can't get out but neither are actually stuck.

    And make sure you have console.

    And, I've NEVER been stuck into a dead guy, I've must be a lucky star!

    Having an invisible barrier to prevent people from falling into a hole? or not having the hole in the first place? That is the question

    yes, but most of the time it looks like u can get out, u dont see that it is a 'trap'. the problem is that u cant move at all. if u would be able to jump, it would be easy to get out.

    waht? have u never played escort? when i play NF, i get stuck very often in the players i revived - and probably shot.

    i know the kill command, but thats the worst solution - your team looses a ticket and u have to run all the way from the spawn to the target location again.

    not having the hole in the first place, of course

    Not having the hole in the first place wouldn't work so well because then developers should remodel a lot of rocks because on isle there are a lot of rocks where you can drop down in the middle of them and stay stuck.

    Only kill command works there because you are kind of able to move but the space is so tiny that you don't move in reality, so the game doesn't think you are really stuck, you are just in a place where the space is non-existing.

    Just use this command in console: bind "p" "emp_unstuck" and next time press p everytime when you get stuck to something, if it doesn't work, repeat it a few times and then type the kill command if you didn't get free.

    actually 90% of these, ESPECIALLY where it's a rock next to a cliff are situations were in real life you would be absolutely fine. similarly, you would very easily be able to climb out from by the tank in escort. it's not at all obvious that you'll get stuck, i frequently jump onto props in the map when jumping off cliffs so that i don't take fall damage. I think i've been stuck in every one of those holes mentioned.

    I entirely agree that these should be fixed with player clip boxes ingame.

    urban chaos has one inside the building, 2nd flag from nf side.
    Inside the building opposing the flag, theres a few crates on the right side with a hole behind them.

    (thats the building with the round statue inside, looks a bit like a church and has an ammo and a health crate inside)

    A lot of the problems with the rocks can be fixed by rotating the rocks so there isn't a big hole between them and the cliff.

    no, you can get stuck only on a few rocks, most of them have good colision boxes.

    btw, i hope the mappers see this thread and remove the bugs in the next map-update.

    what if engys could aim revive dead ppl. Like placeing a teleporter exit. That could also help with thos moments your spawned in to the same bullet storm that killed you.

    No, such a thing can only be used for exploiting and getting unfair advantages. I strongly recommend to either, use player clipping, or changing the models.

    what if we allow players to "drag" bodies? Pull people out of the fire be fore reviving them.that could be really cool.

    Maybe just taking them piggyback would be enough, it'd be easier to animate... not being able to shoot while doing that is obvious, how much of a movement penalty you should get is unclear, but it'd be a nice feature.

    How about the mappers fix there map and we don't add some uber unnecessary feature.
