If you are coming here from the Steam News announcement, the new version of Empires is not going to be released until next Friday, November 30th. The Steam news announcement should not have been sent out until next week.

I hope not too many people have downloaded empires 1.071 thinking it's the new release. They surely will be disappointed. Ah well, it's still publicity
Also, yesterday I counted at least 100 emp_recruits trying to join the 2.0 server with their 1.071b version. :p Oh boy, Valve purely fucked it all up.
lol i think they were kind enough to even feature it in the first place.. to ask a giant company for an apology is like talking to a brick wall
I've talked to a brick wall before, his name was Charlie. Anyway, because people are now realizing that the beta's not out yet, my guess is that half of the people who are interested in playing are now disappointed at that lack of the release (Even though it is not to far off), and the other half are becoming even more excited because they know they are going to be able to play soon.
I bet they announced that just to say 'LOL JK IT'S ACTUALLY DELAYED'. Talk about typical Valve fashion.
That's stupid. They really should say "our bad, it's out now" in a week... 1.071 isn't that bad though. If the mod gets two Steam announcements, it's twice the publicity = extra players (minus the ones dissatisfied with 1.071 and too dumb or lazy to notice this news item, which really isn't a loss).
In this case; they will say sorry or something like this; because they proudly boast of taking care of their modding community...
I'm not too worried. It's still good to be on there. Hopefully folks are willing to stick around for a few days.
