Sound effects

    I think you should hear the "wheeeeooooom" sound when a shell approaches or flies past you. Every movie has it, and it just sounds so awesome! It would enhance the atmosphere greatly. Example:

    Another effect that I would like to hear in Empires, is the series of machinegun ricochets, also often heard in movies. It would be heard when bullets were hitting a surface in an angle, which realistically would result in the bullets bouncing off. I know of better examples, but this is the only one which I was able to record at the moment:

    I know it sounds cartoony... That's because it was ripped out of an anime. I'll try to find a better one later...

    Ok with the arty, but those are awful ricochets, sounds nothing like a real bullet. When you got a 'whiz' by a real bullet what you'll hear is a small sonic boom, more like a 'CRACK' than a 'whiz', and when a bullet ricochets against a hard surface you'll hear a 'clap' not some silly peew or something.

    hahaha. I think there should be ambience sounds like in DOD. Distant explosions, gunfire, artillery whistle, all that good stuff :) Maybe even have random missiles fly in from the sky and hit the walls/ground on open maps.

    No, not from the hood... but I have been to a shooting range as I'm an avid target shooter and had some dumbass shoot down the range as I checked my 100yd target, needless to say the guy was kicked out for good.

    And the ambience noise should come from the actual battle, not some pre-recorded score. As in have the cannons, gunfire, and explosions all the way across the map. I think it already is in, but in a limited form that may be expanded.

    Maybe make the gunfire sounds a bit louder too. I also shoot guns, and they sound a lot more aggressive than they do in this game, but I know that's a low priority in beta. I was thinking maybe give them an echo in maps like canyon too. I agree with atlas on the ambience sounds coming from actual things in game. Make the tanks' cannons very loud :)

    lol yeah tank and artillery cannons sound like bb guns next to the real things right now.

    Make the ambient sounds come from actual player gunfire like in DoD.

    ok, but i woud like skybox effects to!

    like make rockets fly by in the skybox and let them make loud noise for a "war" mood like thing

    Is the Empires team looking for a sound designer?

    We should all try to hunt one down and force him to work for the team if one is needed.
