i think megatexturing will own, and no game company in their right mind (except EA) would use that without ensuring it loads fast.

and mind u, i hate EA, not their products. some of that hate my be from their products, but theres nothing we can do about that

 

I tried playing that the other week. It was a dreadfully pathetic experience =/

Good in it's time but now it's only good for the nostalgic.

 

I never played any of the BattleField games mainly because at the time of their release I had a Windows 98 with dail-up that could barely run The Sims. I didn't get a new a computer til last year & I got DSL earlier this year, I know my computer can run BF1942 but I'm not sure if there's still people on. Hell, I'm not even sure my computer will run BF2 let alone 2142 (It runs Half-Life 2 on is highest settings but then again the Source engine will run on anything). So as of right now I'm still on the wall about buying any of the BF games.

 

There's still a pretty big following for all of the Battlefield games.

If you can run source on high you could probably run BF2 on medium-high and since BF2142 is on the same engine, you should be able to play at roughly the same settings as BF2.

There are demos:
BF1942 singleplayer
BF1942 multiplayer
Battlefield 2 (single and multi)

I would suggest trying BF2 before 1942 =P

 

i play source on all high settings, but i have to play BF2 on all low. fucking system hog. it uses 400k memory on my machine.

 

I guess it's just me. I can get pleasure from playing simple text adventures from time to time. And NetHack is one of the evergreen ones in my book along with Ancient Domains Of Mystery. :p I love old games. Some of them are far more creative than most of these new games.

 

Yea, you need at least a gig of ram but two is preferable.

 

Weird I was downloading the BF2 demo & It said I had 3 hours to go, then all of a sudden it said done. I tried opening the file but nothing happend so I deleted it.

the only old game i like(d) to play was Duke Nukem 3D, and than i played it again a month ago and was like "wtf these graphics suck. i dont remember them being this bad. and the controls are all wierd". call me shallow, but for me graphics rank up there about as high as gameplay.

The BF2142 demo is out.

Gripes so far:

No 1280x1024 or widescreen resolutions are supported.
Disconnects from the master server every 5 minutes or so.
Same silly BF2 mechanics.

I don't think it's released till saturday for people who don't have the downloader or a gamespot subscribers thingy.

Most of the pirate sites and a few brave regular ones have it already. I don't think distributing the demo first to people who already preordered (=bought) the game makes much sense anyway.
