New DF version out! With bees. Yay...?

 

is it compatible with current saves?

 

Afaik, yes, but no. You are usually able to keep playing your fort, without the new features. If you want new goodies, you usually have to regen the world.

 

does it have non shit graphics?

 

The last few hundred versions haven't changed the graphics.

Take a wild guess as to whether this one has.

 

I have 30 fps when I embark with 7 dwarfs in the new release... I had 100 fps capped in the last version. :/

 

Clearly toady allocated 70% of the cpu cycles to bee simulation.

 

Let's just be happy it isn't bumblebees and we get a divide by zero.

This is nothing new though... since I started at d40 or whatever version it was, every consecutive release has seen a steady decline in fps.

The complete and utter newby tutorial for dwarf fortress (several pages)

Worked for me (in its earlier edition) and worked for my friend who started the game this week.

Includes ingame pictures (with notes on them) and basic step by step stuff so even a dummy can do it.

note: uses MayDay Green's Tileset (the best pack out there imo)

Wresting anything can wrestle items off opponents.

Clothes, weapons, whatever.

THere are examples of a cyclops beating dorfs to death with socks.

so was checking the minecraft wiki about mappers and found this thing that converts dwarf fortress levels to minecraft worlds and was like HOLY CRAP.
