Reducing Sprint Speed I believe that the infantry sprint needs to be slowed down pretty badly. Close range encounters that don't involve camping are usually a joust because 2 players move toward each other too fast. Pros: More realistic indoor combat Less rushing Cons: Takes more time for infantry to get around Alternatives: Slow down sprint speed, but increase stamina capacity/regeneration, so that the distance you attain from a full sprint is about the same as it is now. Those soldiers run awfully fast for all the equipment they carry.
Cons: Much harder to sticky a tank. Also harder to melee enemys. More difficult to run onto turrets. Less fun.
Keep sprint as it is. And about the equipment apart, along with 40 pounds of equipment please don't forget the fact that they're soldiers coked up on nanites and steroids.
If one person can carry 25 mortar rounds, 12 rockets, a mortar launcher, a rocket launcher, 10 mines, 150 pistol bullets in magazines, a pistol, and can still walk, I think it's okay that the sprint speed is maybe not realistic.
if this happens, guns better hurt like a bitch again (and kill from draw distance with relative ease)
You could just make it so people can't sprint and shoot at the same time and there's a slight delay after sprinting while your gun is brought back up again.
please no. Let's speed up gameplay, not slow it to a crawl. Especially if you lost a forward rax, now that's gonna suck even more and makes it hard for the losing team to recover even more.
I think he means the habit of close range fighting being a circlestrafing fest. Sprinting is a neccesary thing for mobility on empires maps and I'd like to see it made easier to use over long distances, but being able to move quickly in close combat kind of messes it up.
That's pretty much the point I'm trying to make. Fights in long range are fine, they have to be because it's part RTS, but the FPS portion of the game, especially in small, indoor areas, is lacking because of the incredibly fast movement speed. In a lot of shooters, there is a delay between sprinting and when you can shoot, which is probably a much better alternative.
