I've never played any of the ES games, but from what I've been told, it's preferable to say that Fallout 3 was Oblivion with guns, rather than the other way round, given Oblivion came first etc. They get mad otherwise.
Sort of. They've definitely taken some cues from the fallout games and put them back into the ES series, but it's different. 1. No classes, you pick a race, that's it. 2. You learn skills by using them. Selling loads of stuff will get you better prices from your speech skill. Setting everyhing on fire with flamethrower magic makes you better at flamethrower magic. Using a big fuckoff axe makes your big fuckoff axe do more damage. 3. Perks are one per level, and they are actually more like upgrade points in mass effect I'd say, you put them into perk trees and they do stuff like give you an extra damage bonus, cut casting costs, and sometimes do things like make your bow and arrow able to zoom in, or slow time when you zoom in, or let you attack really fast with one handed weapons, or let you craft new kinds of armor and weapons. Mostly they are extra stat bonuses for that skill, but sometimes they add functionality. I think the game is a really good RPG, in that there is a lot to be said for just playing a role, like I made a sort of thiefy stealth archer guy, and mostly I've just been wandering around hunting deer, because deer give you pelts which you can craft into leather, which you can craft into armor and sell to the blacksmith for cash, and also get better at smithing in the process, which lets you upgrade your own armor into fine, superior, exquisite etc levels, which gives more protection. It's also much cheaper to make your own armor than buy it, even if you buy the raw materials. So really a lot of the game is just finding fun ways to make money, which I mostly spend on skill training. There's also lots of fun stuff to find in dungeons, most of them have some sort of unique loot at the end, or just cool stuff in them.
Same here; yesterday evening i had 17 friends online, 11 friends ingame, and 8 of those were playing skyrim I have added it to my wishlist ... i'll buy it when its cheap. Edit: Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is currently at sale: -75%, or €5 If i plan on buying Skyrim in half a year anyway, should i still buy Oblivion as well, or are both games pretty much the same thing.
Skyrim is tainted by "don't kill children" virus. I go to an orphanage and start wreaking havoc and I want to kill everything in sight and stupid kids take no damage.
Really? Why on earth would I want to kill childen in videogames? It's not like they ever have anything valuable.
You think that after I played Fallout 1, entered village, killed everyone (including children) it made less sense than in Fallout 3/Skyrim where children magically don't lose any health? To pretend that children are somehow exempt from brutality in a world where you kill hundreds is just childish. I have to right kill pixels with others pixels as I want.
