show the (a) manual during pre-game

    since you already need to click through over 9000 windows at start, add another one showing a quickstart guide. also add a button (ingame) to reopen it so it can be used as quick reference aswell.

    pros: should help the understandability of the game a lot.
    cons: a click more

    Better idea: Fix the tutorial and add the quick tip system on map load back in.

    this too. i wouldnt only bet on one horse though and for quick reference a written quickstart guide is a hundred times more useful then a tutorial map or random loading screens.

    also - now that we talk about it - include a button that lets you open said quickstart guide again INGAME - not in the menu! i think players will overcome their inhibitions for doing their own research if they can do it during game without alt tabbing and visiting some extra sites - maybe someone reads something while hes dead, or a new comm needs a research tree quickly.
    it could have a research tree, item description, map guides and whatnot. idk, i know you can use html so options are endless, in the end you could aswell fix the wiki and show it ;)

    Was going to get replaced with a HTML version in the GUI revamp.

    Also, you can already open the Quick Start Guide when you press escape to go to the menu (while still in the server). But perhaps it might be interesting to be able to open it while you're waiting to be revived / respawning / commander voting. I'll look into it.

    i cant find it - i actually joined a server because i thought it might has to do something with that :eek:

    oh and while we're at it there is this news window infront my console - i cannot close it, if i try theres some error message showing there, if you need i can screenshot this aswell ... at least it loses focus and gets sent to back if i click the console window :D

    Oh, sorry, yeah. I commented that out of the res file and commented out the console command in the code because it was capturing keyboard input and causing people to crash if they pressed any key.

    You can press the Game Manual button on the MOTD as well.

    well yes, its not me needing directions though, i show enough initiative to search my shit myself - yes i know my question about sdk probably might look like the opposite - peoples education these days just seems to suck you have to spoonfeed them everything :pathetic:

    rather have a button too many, then telling them that all the info is available and never have them looking because as soon the game is closed they already are distracted by the next thing with their attention span of a bird :rolleyes:

    Reinstated the Quick-Start Guide, haven't committed the new DLL's yet.
