Well if M3 is going to be special attack... how often will you use it? How often do you use power taunts in TF2 vs primary?
This is getting weird. It's not like the buttons are fixed and you can't change it, it's up to player's decision. We only have to make sure there are enough buttons. But if we are discussing about the possibly best button for it then yah, I am fine with this. err, no, it's about the change of friction and the control of your other fingers. I never disagreed with f/g if you read my reply carefully. I am just saying that I would take Alt rather than f/g. Considering f/g would require my index finger, and that might fuck with my control of movement. Okay, first, not all people grab their mouse like you, I personally don't put my middle finger on the mid button. Second, you really can't compare the frequency of using either of the mouse button with middle button, for FPS or not. Third, that kind of friction change makes the mouse unstable, combine this with Second, it'd be really difficult for you to(perhaps not even possible) get used to this.
Although, to be fair, I do know what you're talking about. This is the part where I back away slowly as you continue to spout gibberish...
You keep talking about friction... what friction are you talking about? Are you talking about people who use tiny mouses so their fingers might actually touch together?
It's the friction between your mouse and the pad. If you don't understand, I guess you are probably not into FPS. EDIT: pad refers to any surface in contact with the thing you are using to control your cursor.
Mouse3 will probably used for squad target. Q will be used for spot. G can now be used for changing firemode. Alt is a good shout Security, I'll look into that.
I still don't understand. I have Logitec MX518 so my entire hand fits on the mouse with the my wrist taking the weight of some of my arm. The motion sensitivity is turned up so that I don't need to sweep the mouse to get great movements. I generally don't have to pick up the mouse at all except when doing more then a 360 turn. I don't see how placing my middle finger on the middle button vs using it for the RMB would change the friction in a detrimental way.
If you can be arsed to try, here's an experiment for you to show how "change of friction affects your aiming" Get someone to put his hand on your right hand, and tell him to exert force on your hand occasionally, and you play FPS with that. Tell me the result. The same goes for using middle mouse button during FPS fight, the friction changes so you can't aim perfectly. If you can't see the difference, I am sorry, but you really aren't into FPS.
Yes pressing mouse3 is equivalent to someone pressing on your hand. No it's just a button on the mouse that you're not as used to using (and it requires a slight bit more pressure on it usually)
Thank you for emphasizing my point. More downward pressure means more friction if you didn't fail your Physics. This change of friction affects your aiming. This is my last reply over this friction stuff.
what about z/x/c/v? i think some of them are prebound with useless crap like selecting a team, class, commander and whatnot. move them somewhere else - those, together with alt and space, are actually the most valueable extra keys since you neither have to use your mouse (which fucks your aim), nor move your fingers off WASD since you press them with your thumb. maybe someone could go through all keys and come up with a proposed new default bind considering the above and importance of keys. there also is a lot of quirks in the controls - f.e. why is move the comm-camera arrow keys and not WASD though it works? does attack really have to be A? is stop important enough to use S? why isnt enter and exit comm mode the same key though it works? and, so, on ...
I use q for voice chat since its right next to my fingers. I did think about binding it to mouse 5 though.
