Can someone post how to use empires with hl2demo and the model pack to make the rocket models work, oh and can you put it up as an anouncment for newcomers if the dont got hl2 Thanks
There is no and will be no maodel pack for the rockets, because it is illegal to take data from a game to give it to someone who hasn't bought the game. This is called copyright. Ithink, if someone does this and Valve gets it, they will prevent playing a mod without owning the original game. For installing: put empires folder into the HL2demo directory. Load steam > right click on HL2demo > properties > set launch options > type: -game empires > click ok. Then loaderise the HL2 demo. This way, it works with DoD:S and CSS too, just put it then it that directory and change the launch options of the game, where you put Empires in.
Guess what, I bet they are already working on that since im sure they watch this forum. And if I was a developer or money man for a developer I would put the end to this now before it became a problem. I payed for HL2 because I use legit software, want to support valve, and laughed at all of the loosers that had illegal copies of hl when steam rolled around. You can get the missles off the shelves at best buy.
You can make bombs with over-the-counter shit at your local pharmacy. You could also make meth there untill recently. HL2 was leaked from the inside--not the outside or through magazine review copies. Loosers implies that they would be gay. I think the word youre looking for is Loser. Consider this is, what, our third forum so far? Also consider that this mod is free and staff, currently, has made no deals with Valve to publish and market the mod through steam advertisement: I highly doubt theyre watching. They DO have lives y'know. Not everyone stares at a forum all day. Thats mrdie's job. Although I once slept with a paralegal I am no expert on the subject of law but If I were, to some degree, I would want to point out that both the HL2 Demo and Empires are available, for free, for download at quite a few locations around the world. Id also want to point out that it is the publisher, not the developer, who holds the "purchased" copyright and thus, if we were all being watched by "Big Brother" it would be EA watching us and not Valve. IF Valve found out they would report it to EA probably who would advise on the situation and then sue the living hell out of us all... or something. Of course this all totally puts aside the fact that even if I were to say I am a pirate, and I pirated such and such a game on such and such a date and time, without proper proof they cant do much of shit about it. They would have to have "just cause" to steal my computer or some company would have to notice whatever in the system. EA would have to go to the distributor of the said file(s) and request a log and look over those downloads for matches. As we learned from google recently: most online companies arent informants. Err...well... this is all good at least untill bush updates the DMCA and takes away even more of our rights. That is very correct however unless you change the model and texture. Anyway, just buy the friggen game dude. Ya putz.
Unless there's an official stance from ValvE saying otherwise, I don't see a problem installing a free mod on a free demo. We can't help you out with troubleshooting and missing content though, because our assumption is you have a (legal) copy of HL2 installed. As for the topic, I kindly request everyone to be as helpful as they can be and lose the legal/illegal talk.
Anyways i would of thought if valve didnt want people playing mods for free they would or blocked it or something
Err....no. In this case, it is VAlve itself, that will kick our brains out of our asses. Not EA. That's because Valve publishes HL2 and other Source-games by itself through Steam. And everyone, who wants to play a Source-based game has to install Steam first (at least as long as you don't "own" a shitty illiegal pirated cracked steamless version, but than you can't play anyway online), so Valve doesn't need to watch this board to know which game or mod is play with whos steam-id. And with this steam-id, they know what games are owned by that one. And by the way: It can't be EA by another fact: The boxed version on DVD is published by Sierra and Vivendi
