More of a plug-in idea, but for tournament/PUG support, carry over resource totals between matches, with a fraction available at map start (say 1/5th). So simple an Admin could do it. Probably no coding needed.
Why..? So that one team has the advantage at the start of the map so they have a higher chance of winning? Really.. Why?
Pro: Makes each match more serious. Puts pressure on deciding the match quickly so the winning team can't 'farm' the match for more points down the road. More like real war where winner takes all. Provides some kind of continuity between matches. Even the loser can have an outcome on how long the match lasts and how long farming of resources would last.
Dude, when playing ''tournaments'' (empirespug/scrimming) don't think we don't take it seriously . Resources are meant to be spent, not to keep them up for the next game..
It's an interesting idea, but I don't think it has a basis in Empires. If Empires teams got airlifted $$$ during matches at intervals this might apply. But Empires teams have to go out and build refineries to get their own resources on each new battlefield.
True, this idea is strictly for a planned tournament of multiple matches meant to be played in one sitting. The suggestion isn't meant for nomal pubbie matches.
Maybe in PUG Season 2 down the road somewhere we can have a "central command" that allocates resources or something.
