Said it in last forum, MANY agreed. Showing enemy classes removes strategy and suprise from the game.
I didnt agree... but whatever. Oh wait you had another idea I didnt agree with.... whatever that was.
I agree, aldo i sometimes check to see what class somebody was after i killed him to see how something he did was possible.
Yes, what Talus (and many others) DIDN'T agree with was removal of scores. But removal of classes is a good idea.
Yeah thats what it was. I forgot. Im too much of a forum whore (Haha, Mrdie, eat it up. I said it.) to remember all that...:D
I disagree. You can't see the name of your enemy, so you don't know what class you're facing. And to know, that there are so and so much rifleman or so and so much engis does not say anything out about the taktics a team uses.
Well, actually... If you see almost the entire team turn grendaier, you are going to have a pretty good idea that they are probably going to launch an attack on your base pretty soon. Also, you now know if they do not have a commander, which means that they probably havnt set up defences yet, allowing you time to launch a fast attack on them at the start. If this was not the case, you wouldn't know these things.
Well, I have never seen a team using only one class. There is always a mixture. So you really can't say want they plan. And about comm. Just remove this from scoreboard, show the class instead. Show only to the own team if there is a comm and who it is.
Well, actually there are times where 90% of a team is the same class, particularly at the beginning of the game when everyone is scampering to build. If the enemy team sees you are still 90% engineer, they can infer that your base isn't built up yet and therefore are an easier target to be rushed by an organized group. And as aforementioned, there are also times when a team is mostly grenadier, which means they are either trying to fight off your armored attack (which in that case you know they are because you're doing it), or are about to roll into your base and start bombing stuff. How about we take a different perspective on this discussion: Why should the classes of the enemy team be visible on the score page?
agreed. i am always checking the scoreboard to see what they might be up to next. sure you cant work out which way the enemy tanks are going to be facing in 3 minutes time, but you sure do get enough titbits about the enemy team to make a difference to your gameplay. this would also make the scouts a bit more useful at actually scouting and give the underdog more of a chance.
in my oppinion, seeing enemy classes/comms is cheating. If I know who is comm for instance, I know what to expect.
Yes, nobody has mentioned a good reason yet to keep the classes for the opposing team on the score sheet aside from personal preference.
Remove classes: Agree. Get rid of enemy classes on scoreboard. Remove scores: STRONGLY disagree. What the hell's the point of scores if no one can see them? You might as well replace the scores with something completely useless like a rage-o-meter or a drunkeness indicator. (which would be cool) I can ALWAYS plan out my attack run--ESPECIALLY if I'm scouting against another vetran empires player- by looking at their classes and deciding my course of action. Is the expert sniper still scouting? Yup--be a scout and drop him. Nope--change engineer and re-take ruins. This destroys the suprise in the action, and if only the commander can see enemy units, gives the commander a powerful tool that DOESN'T directly effect gameplay that the rest of the classes don't have.
I don't know where this discussion about scores even comes into it. No-one suggested it, and everyone hates it. So... why continue?
