A badly worded title, but let me give you the idea: As an engineer, I'm always being whisked away completely across the map to build/kill something, and more often than not turrets can come in handy for an offensive role if you can get some decent cover fire. The problem is, though, I'll usually have my turret already built to keep APCs away from our poorly defended base or it'll be stuck somewhere that's now in enemy hands and halfway across the map, but they can't find it. On maps like canyon or just when I need to be able to relocate and attack quickly, that's a BIG problem. What I'd like is an option in the engineer menu to have your turret self-destruct, wherever it is, so you can go ahead and rebuild it without having to search for it.

    sounds fair enough to me...

perhaps a 10 second wait while it deconstructs itself (incase you just want to use it to prevent the enemy getting points) but frankly, i don't see why it couldn't be instant.

It's not really hard to get rid of your turret, just change class and change back. Not needed IMO.

True, but using canyon as another example, I'll often travel across the map and back several times in one life, rarely coming across a barracks.

There is also a tactic in flag maps to leave unbuilt turrets and cameras behind and not kill them; making that engineer waste his turret/camera...

I think a better option would be to have your turret highlighted to the commander, along with a request to recycle it. It makes more sense for the commander to do it as he has general recycling duties, as well as encouraging teamwork and all that.

This is a good idea, happens to me a fair amount. Sometimes you even have to leave important objectives to go back and deconstruct :/

It will affect gameplay a little on close combat city maps - when moving turrets and camera's up, engy's need to leave the firefight to deconstruct, if only briefly.

    What about flag maps?

Can we also make recycling them by standing next to them fill your calculator to the brim if we do this?

Good point. I guess in that case the engineer could do it himself.

I really like this idea, have trouble with it all the time myself.

I think that if you already can delete your turret by changing class, you should be able to delete it with a timer or something.

If anything, it should empty it for having to transmit over such a long distance.

this idea isn't really needed as you can just change class. BUT it's still a good idea and it'll make things easier for newbies and people who dont know all the little tricks of the trade.

But changing class removes your other structures too...

I think emptying your engineer tool is the most elegant solution so far, maybe even require the bar to be full, as if you are reviving.

Either works; as long as there's a distinct advantage to doing it the slow way.

I noticed that turrets stay on escort, even if the player who built it disconnects!

Changing classes kills all your stuff, and isn't really practical in most situations. IE, combat, anywhere on the map, where there isn't a barracks/armory/whatever.
