Lowering damage or increasing reload time for regular would bring it inline with its upgraded variant and not make it such an obvious choice for research or tankwars.
Unless regular guided has changed in 2.24 I don't see why it's better than upgraded, last I checked upgraded had the better DPS, and you get the two at the same time in any case.
These figures should be accurate, since I wrote them down. Just hope I didn't get 2.23 and 2.22 mixed up. (Oh wait, they're identical!) Guided has always had more DPS than Upg. Guided. Though, in 2.12, insufficient ammo and reload time was a contributing factor in boosting Upg. Guided. Guided / Upg. Guided - 2.24 Damage: 70 / 75 Cycle Time: 1.0 / 1.5 Clip: 4 / 4 Reload Time: 3.0 / 5.0 Guided / Upg. Guided - 2.23 Damage: 75 / 80 Cycle Time: 1.0 / 1.5 Clip: 4 / 4 Reload Time: 3.0 / 5.0 Guided / Upg. Guided - 2.22 Damage: 75 / 80 Cycle Time: 1.0 / 1.5 Clip: 4 / 4 Reload Time: 3.0 / 5.0 Guided / Upg. Guided - 2.12 Damage: 50 / 80 Cycle Time: 1.0 / 2.0 Clip: 4 / 4 Reload Time: 3.0 / 5.0
It's really unintuitive to new players to have them so similar, let alone having upg. being worse. Honestly, why not just remove upg. guided for now, until the 'synergy' that makes it require both upg. UMG and guided is implemented? At the moment it serves no purpose.
Demented, you didn't mention the real difference between the 2, which is it's guide factor, upgraded guides a lot better and guides at a longer range. What is there to fix, they're both very similar, standard has higher dps, upgraded excels in what it's good at, be it guided or homing.
Thats why you want to marry me (dont be shy tell me) Theirs no situation where you need superawesome guiding capabilities so normal guided is the better choice
I can see why higher DPS would be preferred and why the upgraded would be useless to you, I personally prefer the non upgraded myself. But to get to the point, the idea behind the upgraded in the current game is that they sacrifice general stats for a buff in specilisation stats; in this case, guided trades in damage and cycle/reload time for improved guiding (quicker response, longer range), its just as much about preference as it is about the situation the weapon excels at, as they really are pretty much the same. Now I know you can just say "PLAY MORE AND YOU'LL KNOW WHAT I MEAN LOL", but I'm not the one making this thread, nor do I really care about any of the weapons. Why not come up with some suggestions, keeping the design behind standard vs upgraded in mind, that can improve the balance in this area?
I haven't had any trouble getting GML to hit what I'm aiming at. There isn't much to be desired from additional tracking. While it could use additional speed, UGM doesn't provide enough to be worth the loss of all other stats provided by a GML or UML.
It is decided then, give regular guided the turning speed of the grenadier rpg (i.e. barely useful for anything that moves) and give upgraded guided the current regular guided turning speed (i.e. more than enough since biggest factor in missing guided atm. is your own tank wobbling about on the terrain.)
