good idea but there shoudl be a minimum distance between them where the second can't be built, so another dish would have to be in another area of the map.
I also like the idea. The research time shouldn't be cut in half with 2 Radars though. Perhaps 20% speed increase for each extra radar, with a maximum of 40% increase?
When I just started playing the mod I thought that this was already implemented so I am all in for this one, to redeem my noobish past :p

radars are great, but they are far far too large. I put mine near the front lines to uncloak all enemies for the team. I would just be happier if research times were 40% faster to make commanding not so fucking lame.
Isn't the ressearch speed server side? so it will differ from server to server? so if the admin wants the ressearch speed could be 1?
theres a cvar emp_research_multiplier I know stormed and On|e server have the multiplier above 1, making research go faster
They also have more money in the start of the game, allowing for basically a 2 minute game consisting of building a VF and 8 light tanks. *cough*BSID*cough*
just a quick reminder that I don't want research to go faster in general, I just want extra radars to improve research speed, and I agree with the other guy that radars are to big, maybe once the main radar is built, smaller feeder radars could be built, these would have all the powers of the main radar but with a smaller radius, + they would help reduce the time need to research things :S
Research speed should be based on usefulness and not tier which I believe it is at the moment. Could be wrong =o
and usefullness could be based on tier, which seems to work fine right now, except those damn turrets
I like the idea of multiple radars affecting the speed of research. Maybe limit the amount of radars so that you have to have 2 res nodes per radar. So 1 or 2 nodes means you can only build your one radar. 3 or 4 and you can build a second and so on...
That would completely doom the team with less refs. Teams like that atm can make comebacks and even win the game. But if you let the other team get 2 radars and a 20% research boost while you can only make one, you're doomed. That would be like giving the team with 2000+ res 20% MORE res while the the res-starved other team drools at people saying "LOL, we've got 5000 res what do you got?" "well ummm, does 30 count as a lot?"
600 res isnt much, any team could make multiple radars, it would only cost you the building for the research to go faster
