Well, you've all tried it... Every time you are going to download the newest Empires pacht, it fits 150 mb (or something like that). Would it be hard to make 2 updates - a FULL update (updating from 1.x til current), and a SMALL version (updating from 1.6, to 1.7 for example). It would really be nice not needing to download basicly the same stuff again and again... Unless you change it after each update ofcourse, but i doubt that...
I think there are n+1 threads about this same thing out there. Most people here generally agree with you(based on the answers on those threads).
I don't really mind it, it just gets less confusing for recruits which update they need since they are full updates. Games are changing for the fast-paced world of fast connections, don't get left behind.....
I think there should be incremental patches, and total patches, to make things simple. Even on my high-speed connection, it takes about 8 minutes to download 150 MB.
*clicks download link* *goes to grab a drink, take a piss, make a sandwich, laugh at my brother for being an idiot and then come back within 10 minutes to play* WoW updates would go something like this: *"WoW will be down for a server update for the next 10 minutes"* *ENTIRE WoW playerbase is up in arms about how 10 minutes is like 100 kabillion years! No!!!! My level 94 paladin with level 23 spells! I NEED TO GET BACK TO CASTING A LEVEL 23 MAGE SPELL ON THAT TROLL!!!!!* ^ Not entirely correct as I could care less about WoW but you get the point This is how I judge for when downloading large files: 10 minutes = go eat 30 minutes = get outside and breathe some fresh air 1 hour = Cold shower, food, read the news to catch up from the past 6 months 2 hours = Quick nap 3 hours and up = Spend quality alone time with my horse to strengthen our relationship ( for you it could be your girlfriend or boyfriend )
I agree with incremental and full patches. Especially considering that the current method is only going to spawn bigger and bigger downloads as time goes on
It took me four days to get 150 megs. Give us incremental patches. Please? Maybe hide the incremental ones in a place that only the experienced, non-idiots can get to?
