Upload the crashdumps or it won't get fixed. Seriously, we've been trying to nail this shit down for ages but no-one gives us crashdumps and we can't reproduce. What map was it on as well?
I think so but it's quite another thing to sort through them to find the exact crash we're looking for. That feature is more for just after a release when they all get analysed. Now we're looking for specific stuff because a lot of other thins have been fixed.
I'm like 99% sure it's not particles, I went over plasma with a fine comb to make sure. I really would like to know exactly when this shit happens, nobody ever tells me if it's just as they get hit with plasma, or when they fire it, or when a shell hits or just when research completes or WHAT.
What is a crashdump? How to get it? Where to find it? @Empty: no fucking clue when exactly the client crashed because there were about 8 dualplasma and 5 plasma tanks and they all did not shoot at the same time. I was in spectator, Spike was BEmander and other players were players. So it's not when I get hit by plasma, it's not when I fire plasma nor when research is completed. Also: we didn't all crash at the same time. Was more like: "Oh somebody else crashed. LOL." ----- "hl2.exe stopped working"
Sounds like The Ultimate Weapon, to me. If I actually get around to playing with plasma, i'll send t3h crashies.
No, seriously, is there a single post somewhere in these forums which explains how to get the crashdump? (lol at all who keep analysing search results for more than 15 minutes now.)
You don't know where the crash dumps are? Its in... C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\<your fagot name>\empires with a name like hl2_4104_crash_2012_3_11T5_6_50C0.mdmp I forget where to send them though.
I failed after C:\Program Files (x86) ... Oh it's in my Steam install dir. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15180139/hl2_4104_crash_2012_5_5T16_49_7C0.mdmp
If that dump is from you Steam install directory, it's nothing to do with us. Unless it's from the Empires folder then that's a steam crash. I'm not wasting coder time on crashdumps that have nothing to do with Empires. Viroman has it right, just go to where he said. If there's no crashdumps, then there's nothing we can do, but outside of that directory isn't shit to do with us.
There is no C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ on my computer. Duh Trickster. Of course it's from the empires folder. Edit: just did a quick sweep, I don't even have a single .mdmp file in my steam install dir itself. If it crashed, would there be crashdumps as well?
I figured you meant the crashdump was in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ (or wherever your steam folder is, rather than steam\username\empires.
information regarding reproducing the crash it only happens after plasma cannon weapons have been fired for a little while and in a certain area. the area then is likely to crash players that render it (players nearby/walking through it, or commanders looking at the area in comm view) it is possible to avoid the crash if you stay far away from the areas with a high density (or even history of ) of plasma explosions and none occur nearby you.
You guys can't all be noobs, everyone knows that's why plasma cannons can't be researched on viper. It was the only viable way for hobbes to win against dawgas, by crashing him.
