Nuke Particle Effect

    I don't know if this has been suggested and buried ages ago or something, but I don't think it would be too hard to get some sort of effect for nuclear missiles other than the standard RPG explosion. As it stands, nuclear tipped missiles on tanks are incredibly deadly, in part because people don't know what the radius of the blast is. So, all it really does is frustrate the other team (well, more that just getting hit with a nuclear missile would). If we could get some sort of explosion effect that covered about that radius and didn't lag people out clientside (maybe make the effect hollow?), it would be a lot easier to judge just how deadly it is, and would look pretty insanely cool besides. We could maybe even use the same or a smaller one for arty.

    It's not only been suggested, but the effect itself has been made. :)

    this is an absolutely neccessary suggestion though; and there are tonnes of cool effects out there. how tough can it be?

    Oh, yes, and ragdolls should preferrably be thrown long distances in the blast XD

    Just for reference, and because I think they look so damn cool, here's some YouTube videos of GMod nukes (and other assorted munitions).

    Nuke Demo one, two, and three, and the VMF Explosive Pack, version two.

    Obviously they're too large for the weapons currently in Empires, but it should at least get you thinking.

    Yeah. I mean if we can scale it down and do some things to make it less laggy, it should be perfectly reasonable.

    I also would like to see some sort of effect there so you could see the nuke's radius so you could be more careful next time and not driv/walk so close to a nuke tank when you know the nuke missile's radius.

    a smaller nuke would NOT have a mushroom cloud, it really wouldn't. that's a crazy idea. small nukes just look like normal explosions, with a cool shockwave to boot.

    Nevertheless, all I said we should do is add some sort of explosion that is the same radius as the damage radius, so we actually know how big the kill area is and make it look cooler.

    haha, that's not a small nuke, that's miles away.

    the mushroom effect is caused by the gasses which usually just go out in a sphere rising high into the atmosphere, cooling and flattening out, right?

    well, these explosions are not going to reach the atmosphere...

    Let me make this clear. I also..., that means I support the idea, I agree with it.

    And even those mushroom clouds WOULDN'T BE REALISTIC, first of all:

    -Empires' motto is: Fuck Realism-
    -Mushroom clouds would remind at nukes and not just at some random high explosive missiles.

    That's why I ALSO would like to see the effect there.

    if it doesnt reach the atmosphere people will have a tough time breathing surely? (unless it starts rather a lot higher).
