According to the VALVe wiki server admins have to specify which files can't be modified, sv_pure 2 appears to only work with Steam games.
Dont block this you jackasses D: . Also the BE jeep does have rollbars, over the doors. They block your vision just perfectly on the horizon, so you cant see shit.
If you remove that driver side lamp sticking out of the hood, I think it would further improve visability without looking broken. And yeah, use sv_pure all you want. Doesn't do anything for this mod.
I agree, the stock design makes it hard to drive. sv_pure works just fine Everyone, Personally, I don't get why someone would put a rollbar right in front of the drives FOV that makes it next to impossible to see where you're going. If the new NF jeep model makes it into the next patch, that's great. Until, it's just not fair unless everyone has it. Sorry guys. Server Admins, PM me if you want to get pure setup.
If the Source engine will allow clients to download and overwrite a file they already have, which I doubt it will, then yes, I'd rather do that.
It's not a new model, it's simply a texture files where the rollbar texture has been made invisible. Any yeah, I would be for forcing it, because these rollbars annoy the heck outta me... not only is the jeep the vehicle with the least horsepower, no weapon slots... which already gives you very few reason to build one... you also have the smallest field of vision using it. All other vehicles drive are onlooked from 3rd person, but the jeep is 1st... Bullshit. :/ I would be for removing the rollbars altogether and adding a small ammobox on the back, honestly...
Hang on....if you can just changes models like that, why not just make some sort of wire frame outline versions of all the buildings so people can't hide in or behind them? And this would not be considered cheating?
Yes and you can make all the landscape semitransparent, and with the horrible optimisation present in empires maps that would probably give you a considerable advantage. You can also make players really bright blue and red, always have everything fullbright, and change the sounds to indicate exactly which gun is firing. sv_pure 1 stops all this, however most servers just rely on people not doing it.
Really? I always thought it was the logical extension of being able to modify skins and models clientside. I can't really see the point myself of taking it that far, but it's possible. I suppose I do it a bit myself, I use a particle effect replacement that adds muzzleflashes to guns at a distance, so it's kinda easy to see people when they shoot, although I did suggest everyone else use it as well seeing as it adds a nice visual effect, as well as improving the overall gameplay because being able to see who's shooting is kinda important in a game. It's just one of the downsides of the generally good thing which is the ability to modify the client to improve visual appeal and/or performance.
