New Winter Animes! + some thoughts on the last season

Wow, Fall season had some very good titles. Here are some of my thoughts on some of the series



JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure:
I had no prior knowledge of the series and the first episode I watched was the third. I thought it was supposed to be a parody by how over the top and clichéd it was, interfering speedwagon, dad dying but I loved it. I thought it was a show where every episode was just a mess of plot twists where stuff like that happened every episode, but its more generic and shounen. I love how the art looks good, but still match the style of older series like JoJo is.

Magi:
I don’t think a lot of people expected this one to be good, but it’s probably one of the bests of this season. The story is very interesting, and all of the characters are well done and have relevance. I usually don’t like the Arabian Nights theme, but Magi makes it work. The only downside is that the slave thighs is African. But shes not black, so I guess that’s ok.

Psycho-pass:
I didn’t expect much from Psyco-pass. It looked like and is admitted to being a Ghost in the Shell rip-off. The first episode was graphic and interesting. I’ll definitely watch this some time later.

Chuunibyou Demo Kou ga Shitai:
It’s another one of KyoAni’s super kawaii moeblobs. Unlike some of the weaker shows in the genre, Chuunibyou is absolutely hilarious, and there is some sort of plot going on. I can’t be too bothered by it because I’m too busy imagining rikka casting her delicious “Judgement Lucifer” on me. With her thighs.

Robotic;Notes:
I expect this one to be very good. I’ve only seen the first episode, but I’ll wait for it to be over or near over before I watch it. Usually these shows pick up around the 3rd or 4th episode and I don’t want to wait weekly.
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun:
I absolutely loved the first episode. I thought the dialogue and MCs were hilarious. Later I found out it was a shoujo. Pretty soon into the series, things got very stale and boring. As expected of a shoujo series.

K:
K opens up with like a minute of a guy skate boarding. Then there is this guy speaking English with an accent, which would have been hilarious, except, they were seriously trying to make him seem badass. K is just bad on so many different levels.

Meguca Movie:
The movies were pretty much exact recaps of the series, with no new story, but a lot of new animation. Everyone had new transformation sequences. Mami’s transformation was even moar kawaii than before. Sayaka got a fortissimo hairpin. I used to not like her, but the hairpin made her character. They are releasing a new movie with new content and more new story after that. I don’t know if they are at the point of milking the series too hard, but it has been pushed pretty hard with all the international showings and stuff. But Eva has been milked for over a decade and it’s still going strong.

Eva Q:
Need camrip.

Strike Witches Movie:
The Bluray came out. It reminded me how awesome the series was, with it's high adrenaline action scenes. No wonder the ministry of culture championed Strike Witches.

Not in this season:
Ano Hana:
One of the most overrated series of garbage I’ve ever seen. Too much forced drama, unrealistic crying and plot holes.

Unlimited Blade Works:
The movie adaptation of the second arc of Fate/Stay Night. It exemplified one of the main problems of the main series; trying to squeeze a 10 hour game into and anime series. The movie was much more rushed. You would honestly not get over half the stuff that’s happening if you had not at least watched the series. The first 10 or so episodes of the series was condensed to a 10 minute clip show. Playing the game is a must if you want to understand everything. It is however, very visually appealing.

Unfortunately the lineup this Winter isn't very strong.
