Steamworks would greatly help developing, testing, and distributing of Empires. I'm not sure it would get a lot new people (we'd need a advertisement push to do that), but it would make everyones life that much easier.
Well every time a new sourcemod is released onto steamworks valve sends out in the news update the mod, some info, and comments that they have about it. Since most of the steam users own a valve game, and since steam came around the time of source, most of the players are probably younger and have source/Orange box games instead of goldsrc which means they probably would see into empiresmod, which again, sourcemods > Half-Life 2. This could greatly help in people coming in that are able to model, map, script, and program.
I think Zombie Panic Source is the most populated source mod. Last time I checked the server browser (Which was around 3-5 months ago, because after Steamworks, that mod went downhill), there was at least 60-100 people playing simultaneously.
Here are 5 screenshots from the Emp 2.0 PR site I made 3 years ago. http://www.evanpugh.com/pr/1.png http://www.evanpugh.com/pr/2.png http://www.evanpugh.com/pr/3.png http://www.evanpugh.com/pr/4.png http://www.evanpugh.com/pr/5.png Also, drupal doesn't have to look like it's drupal (e.g. doesn't have to have a menu bar on the right and title bar at the top). Can be centered and look like a real website.
Have to admit, the PR site always did look really good. Only had the problem that in some browsers the trailer would take a while to load and slow some other elements.
now THAT is MUCH better. Needs a little more work but, my eyes stopped bleeding and they are rapidly on track to healing.
Make the damn thing stop forwarding me to a sub address im tired of hitting accept on Firefox to get to the main page!
well mr crap for brains... http://www.empiresmod.com redirects you to this http://www.empiresmod.com/drupal/ <-- wich is the current main page. Any redirect makes Firefox ask you if your sure you want to allow a redirect. in other words move all of drupal folder to root folder to appease my Firefox NOW!
