New Tech Tree Testing (Keto/Robo scripts)

    Above is a visual of the tech tree for those who are interested in the placement and like pretty pictures. Details about it can be found in my diversified tech tree post earlier on the page. Feedback is appreciated.

    Here are the current script versions, I recommend you backup your script folder before joining.

    Robotek, you need to talk to the devs, because this idea is the shit (that means it is good)

    It may need some balancing and whatnots but I think this is a very good idea of a new tech tree, I also like the micro weps in mechanical and the nuke grenade :D.

    You thought of this idea, submitted it on the forum in suggestions, said fuck it and made your own scripts for your idea, and now you are here allowing people to psychically try out the scripts.

    I like you Robotek, you have got gump.

    Good ^^ eta 4 hours guys. Get friends and basically anyone you know plays empires. If we can test the balance at higher player counts, that would be really cool, as those are the games people generally enjoy more. The more balance we can get in 2.25, the better the gameplay can be.

    My notes:

    ML turrets: good idea to ballance them out against tanks, keep the damage and faster lockon, but the turret hp should be reduced.
    these turrets in emp_escort will be chaos.

    HE cannon: very nice and strong maybe to strong ? maybe not ? more input needed.

    vehicle weapon slots: personally i really liked the 5 single ml NF heavies, then it got patched :(. my point is maybe make some acceptable combinations.

    skirmishers dual gren tank: really nice damage, but clears the structures too easy, 2-3 tanks can clear out any base (even with ml turret farm lvl 3).

    dual hmg behemoth + composite + advanced coolant: i was hit by some corrosive cannons, and afterwards i could not calculator repair the hull, only repair pad can repair the hull/armour. is it a bug or a feature ?

    microfusion ml is really really nice, i single shot killed like 3 tanks, may need some reduction in power and weight to have combos possible.



    engines are nice, but the steering is impossible

    It's not going to regenerate anything if you get one shotted.

    I believe you are talking about when the lowest armor tank (LT), using the third weakest armor (regen), was losing its armor in a single shot from heavy weapons.

    Admittedly, my research path was a poor design, both for a team inexperienced with my scripts and against that enemy, but they were literally getting 3 times the resource income as us for most the game.


    Omen, I believe most of what you were talking about is from the end when it just turned into random tank battles with full research unlocks.

    Corrosive cannon wouldn't really do that to behemoth hull, but it does damage it with the bio effect at about the same rate you can heal with a repair upgrade. It might have been coincidence.

    Again, for what its worth, all weapons have increased lethality in my system, not just the tier 3 stuff. I will look into railgun though, it should only take just over 3 plates of regen, it probably should be decreased then.

    I will redo the math, the increase was a reactionary approximation, and that really has no right being done.

    Anyway, if people really think that tanks die to easily (as a general consensus) after a bit of testing, it isn't a major change to increase all armor health by 10%.

    You should really make tanks live longer, or cost less. Tanks were dying way too quick to compensate for the amount of money they cost.

    Also, you can change how many weapons of each type you can equip per weapon slot in the scripts.

    it's actually different for every chassis. these lines are in the individual tank chassis scripts.

    Yes, I can change max weapon quantities. I know how to.

    Fair point about vehicle pricing, I will decrease them all by a slight amount. Teams were slightly more resource starved than I had expected.

    Remember that we also didn't have a lot of people. It was, what, 7v7 at most? The playercount res modifier plays a big part in how much res is going to be available.

    I don't think the tanks should be much cheaper... Maybe the lower tier tanks, but those rail heavies I was pumping out were 700-something a piece. That's about as cheap as it needs to be, I think.

    When altering price, I would attempt to focus on items that would be found most frequently on the weakest vehicles. I will likely try to trim a little bit from all portions.
