Just wondering how hard/possible it is to add a few things to the scripts. 4 slot weapon slots: we don't need 4 slot weapons, but 4 slot slots may help a lot with balance. Chassis based weapons: same thing that we have for armor and engines.
You mean so you could have 2 2-slot weapons in the one slot? Is there any reason (if you don't need 4 slot weapons) that you couldn't just have 2x2-slot? Are you wanting to do 2x2 or 1x3 or something? Chassis based weapons wouldn't be that hard but would take some time. Here's the problem though, I don't see us pushing back 2.25 to add these features, and once 2.25 hits the scripting free-for-all begins. Will you be willing/able to work on your scripts enough to catch up with the G4TC guys and Ketobor? If you are going to dedicate to custom scripts, throw together a synopsis of them and PM them to me, I'll see if and how we could accommodate you. As wouldn't be a bad idea to add me to steam.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but like with engines how you have an engine for each chassis (although they are the same display names to the user). The function I suppose would be that you could have a mega 2slot cannon that even though weight and slots are available, could only be fitted on a certain chassis (like a super heavy or whatever).
I was thinking about heavy tanks being able to use 2x2 or a 3 slot weapon. I think a lot of the ballacne issues arise from the heavy tanks and that NF cant use 2 cannon slots. After looking at the balance suggestions, people want to keep BE focused on cannons and NF focused on missles, but no one seems to have a way to balance them. A 4 slot slot will open up the possibility to keep this "flavor" while giving both sides a few more options in terms of usable weapons. Thats what I was thinking about, but I just wondering if it was possible.
yea its possible with 1X4 weapons i think you just need to make the images too edit, although some more values to play with would be kinda cool
4 slot slots don't have a graphic so you can only use 1 weapon with the current system. Its not that we cant get a balanced set of scripts with what we have now, but its a lot easier to get stuff to balance with more variables. Good call on the 1x4 weapon art.
Yeah, there is some 4slot art support, but some is missing, and as I recall back when I did some GUI work I supported the 4slots. If I get some free time I'll upload the appropriate 4slot art that falls inline with the default GUI. Hopefully then someone with repository access adds it, for the glory.
I just tested using a 4slot and it didn't work. I setup a test script and I could get the 4slot art to load, but the missiles still wouldn't place in the 4th slot. --So I guess supplying the art isn't good enough to solve this problem. :/
You need to adjust the GUI settings to fit in a 4 slot weapon. Otherwise, the locations on the GUI for weapons and such overlap and you can't select the right ones. If you did a 4 slot script and then did a prefab tank in the script folder, it would spawn correctly, but the GUI can't display it.
