Offtopic: L3TUC3: remember back in the day, in 1.01 or 1.00, when i tried to out-scout-whore you in matches? I was SO CLOSE to being better than you. Those were the best.

Umm.... I got nothing other than that.

Thankyou for your help so far everybody!
Ok I have plugged in the PCI-E Connectors.. I cant think of any thing else to do!

I resintalled Supreme Commander but it still isnt working..
This is the e-mail I sent to technical support:

    "I recently bought Supreme commander.
    My computer stats:
    3ghz processor
    1 gig or RAM
    120gb hard disk

I upgraded my FX5200 especially for this to a 7600GT and reinstalled the game, got the latest drivers and went to run it.. it didnt work.
When I click "play" it doesnt do anything.. just stays at normal desktop view. If I press CTRL+ALT+DELETE i can see it running in the Processes menu. This is the same as what it did when I had the FX5200.
    What can I do?"

Can anyone help me please? :)

Hm.. you had the Supreme Commander problem with your FX5200, too?
The FX5200 should start the game just fine (but performance would be poor).

    There might be another issue.

Your DirectX is up to date?

    :-O

You might have a funky driver problem. Sometimes, old drivers don't clean themselves out nicely.

Someone give him a link to a driver cleaner please.

Yeah alot of people have that problem. Usually it works clean as a whistle after you update your drivers. Sup Com REALLY hates old drivers. My forceware drivers seem to work okay though.

Did you allow the program to load for a while? Do you have the latest version of directX?

In any case below are the latest WHQL drivers from the Nvidia website.

Which ones are you running now anyway?

My Direct X and Drivers are both up to date but I dont know about how clean the Drivers are. Can somebody help me with a driver cleaner please?

Also, I ran the game and waited a good 6 minutes and it didnt come up. GPGNet (The multiplayer program that comes with it) works though, but when I go to join a game.. just stays at desktop like before.

Ok and I went to unplug the power connectors and swap them over to see if that would make a difference and 2 of the wires came out the back so i put them back in and they're very loose and I'm just hoping they're still connecting.

Great fun eh.. pissing my money away on a graphics card that doesnt come with a manual and when I unplug the wires it breaks. Lovely jubbly.

    EDIT:
I dont have any other games to try installed apart from Dungeon Keeper (I uninstalled everything in anticipation of SupCom) and I just tried that and it worked fine.

Ok I just installed Generals and Zero hour and the performance is great :o Runs like a dream full graphics, which I guess is no mean feat, it's just really nice after all that time with my FX5200.

I think I will try to return SupCom to the shop for a refund or store credit for Tiberian Wars, unless someone has a better idea?

Also, what are your opinions on the broken(ish) power connectors? Should I send the card back within the 30 days or should I just keep it, hoping they stay together?

Wait what? Cables shouldn't come out of a videocard (there shouldn't be any cables on there). Unless it's one of the female molex plugs (the one with the metal plugs inside), there it could happen and then it's a really crappy plug.

I assume this is on the molex to PCI-e converter cable? It shouldn't do much harm if one of the metal pins pulls out. Just don't let them touch (it's pretty hard when you insert a male molex anyway).

If it's the molex to PCI-e converter, email Xpertvision and ask for a new one. Those things cost squat anyway.

Also, never EVER yank on the cables, always wiggle the plugs to unplug them.

I don't have SupCom, so there is very little i can suggest to help.

You might be more lucky looking for help on the SupCom Forums,
especially since it appears to be an issue with the game or compatibility.

All I can say is patch it to the most recent version or try a NoCD crack (your drive might have problems with the copy protection).

I've started a thread on the SupCom forums last night.

Strangely I started in Safe Mode and tried to run it.. it went to what I presume is the first loading screen.. the large mech standing above SUPREME COMMANDER across the screen. Then It went to desktop and I got..

I'll try patching it. Thanks for all the advice :)

Sounds like the game has some sort of launcher that test's your system against the min. requirements before first run or installation. It's information might not be up to date.. or something.
    Try running it again.
Did you see it running, what did it say?
Did you install SupCom while still using the FX5200?
    Did you reinstall the game?

    1) If you mean running in the Task manager - it runs in Processes but not applications tab.
    2) I did install it..
    3) But I reinstalled it when I put the new card in :)

No I mean some sort of program that either runs once before or after the installation, or before running the game the first time.
    Might be completely integrated.
It would test your system on all of the games requirements and probably tell you that you either passed or failed the test / certain tests.

It might be "silent" but should be startable manually.
If the game has a launcher (a programm to do stuff before actually starting the game) then it can be found there, most likely.

It gave that error because he was in safe mode, with the standard graphics driver that doesn't use any of the goodies on the card, so the game thinks it doesn't meet the requirements. Seeing as it started in safe mode but not normally, my guess is that there is some kind of program running on your computer that is interfering with the game. I recommend running some fully updated anti-spyware programs, like spybot S&D.

I think he meant the GAME's safe mode. Lots of games have them.

And their info for checking min sys reqs may very well be out of date. Patch it.

And duct tape the damn power connecter. Make SURE it stays the hell in.
