new base wall types

    thought i would through this out there, what if there was a 2nd wall type that would lower as your team would get next to a sensor, think of it as beeing a base door, i know that there is several times i would like to have a REAL base wall that our tanks 'troops too' could go out but no enemys could come in, makeing walls more useful

    also i know this is been suggested , but sandbags... i think it would be great to have the option to drop sandbags that are weak really weak against tanks and grenades of all types , but then again in a fire fight its all you need to hold a posistion.. also i have no problem doing the models / animations for these

    I like it...

    So everything thats discussed before applies here

    Mountable wall turrets, wall upgrades, gates, battlements, pillboxes etc

    your idea reminds me of the walls in C&C tiberian sun

    idd like to see walls with laders on one side with a platform on top or maybe an outpost tower

    true, this could also be done very very simple , well on my side.. on the programing side :| well i really dont know... they would have to be expencive too for blance..

    ^thats pritty much what i was thinking about. but it looks like NF could do with a bit of cover for thier tower given that the B's tower looks like it gives qutie a bit of cover

    those towers remind me somewhat of those alien structures on zen from hl1 ... good stuff rabbit , i was wondering where you went.. just figured out normal maping today, turns out i downloaded 5 apps to do it but the one i am using already does, and does it good...

    By the way, I like the towers and such. Maybe a concrete tank bunker too.

    those things rock, keep at it man

    the NF tower looks much cooler now its got a bit more to it, get some sort of weapon emplacements incorporated into a couple and maybe some pillboxes and such

    did you say you were LEARNING how to model? :eek:

    I'm learning new stuff every time i open up 3ds max, i tried modeling about 2 yrs back but didnt get good results so i pretty quickly got tired trying. Now i've been modeling on daily basis for abot 5 weeks and been getting positive and good feedback so i've been trying real hard to learn and experiment stuff.

    Pillbox is on my todo list, but these current models tend to keep me occupied as i regularly check them for flaws and ill design.

    the 6th monkey and hellion have tested those models and i'll wait to get some feedback to perfect the models and hopefully soon i'll be releasing them for public use.

    At first I thought those towers were the beginnings of some AT-ATs, which would be cool.... Very good stuff Rabbit, it's awesome having this kind of involvment in the community

    The legs on the towers seem a bit thick... also the towers seem a bit short... otherwise, very good... however, I think that the Walls with ramparts shouldn't have spaces between the top pieces...

    On a modeling related note: How do you make LOD models? As in what do you need to add in the .QC file? I think that the towers could use X or = supports on their "legs"/pillars.
