http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10061381/GreenSpawnDotsEmpires.rar http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/10061381/1/VGUI?h=148812 I did something pretty *edit* btw it doesn't work in steampires for some reason. Still uses the files from the .gcf.
You realise that I and probably a lot of other colourblind people can't actually see that because it looks almost identical to the refinery markers? If you want to make spawns more obvious, give them a distinctive shape, you're already using a lot of colours on the minimap.
Well it would be nice to have the refinery entity generate its own icon like buildings, but unless you do that, it's going to be hard to standardsise it across all maps.
I litterally opened up the vtf, converted them into tga's, and turned it green then reconverted them to vtfs. wasn't going for anything profound here, but just a simple easier to see spawn point.
and then jump around on the minimap? "wowow theres a ref spot right behind our base now. no wait, its just a bug ..." :D ok serious, this would be cool, you could also make ref spots that only enable if you capture a certain building or complete some sort of mission game mode. i just cba to design a map at the level of detail id want to ...
Assuming it uses a vmt as well, you could just make all the icons white in the vtf and use the $color argument to change the colour to whatever you want.
Well it's good in the sense that it's more distinguishable on the map...I think there are a lot of things that could be done to it actually. We should take the ":D" smiley and paste it over instead :p
I was totally going to say rainbow spawns though... but seriously, is there something that's closer to a universal spawn motif/sign that you guys know of
a blinking sign that says: "TO SPAWN CLICK HERE!" but whats more obvious then a point? its called spawnPOINT
Interestingly I am fairly sure you could hook this entity into a logic_case tied to a logic_timer firing caserandom inputs in order to randomly cycle between colours if you add the relevant shader parameters to the material. Person symbol inside arrow pointing down with line underneath?
