my missle wip

    well here is where i am, on painting the texture for it, its coming along... mmm the green will be better looking i promise...

    dont know if its any help, but I thought Id make some pictures of cool looking ammunition to give you some reference for texturing. Doubt you would really need it but these look very cool

    well the model itself is done, i happend to notice that on the standard model there is a "attachment" i was wondering does anybody know what that does?

    If you mean that fan thingy in the end, it helps to keep the flight path straight with grenades. Cannon shells on the other hand work like bullets for that matter, grooves in the barrel make the shell rotate around its own axis and so forth...

    The shell looks a bit big, but they should definately get put in. Could you make a bunch of different textures for the different types of missile? I suck at everything related to modelling, but something like
    [​IMG]for the nuke and bio missiles? That would be very cool I think, but would require extra coding by krenzo.

    actually its bigger then the missile, but not much , its really hard to show like that , they are noticeable now , but still dont stand out , in game they look correct...as for nuke/bio missile i would rather just create all new models and all new textures rather then cheap out and color it differnt, besides imo a nuke should be a lot bigger, also not be on a tank it should be on a proper vechicle :) a ssm launcher. but if krenzo wishes me to slap a sticky on the missle to denote a differnt warhead i could do just that as well.

    i was on irc right before the release and krenzo was really busy or something, he didnt say anything about it other then something about it being sideways, because the 1st model i showed him was , well rotated wrong. ive sence fix it.i asked if they would be good enough for the next release, and heard nothing.

    the shell looks a bit silly with the flames coming out of the back, you should take them off that one but the other one looks fine.

    Considering how small the nuclear devices in empires are I wouldn't go making huge launchers for them. I bet you can fit a device that powerful in a coffee cup. :p The nukes in this game are really small... really... extremely...

    As for the new shell and missile pics, I'm loving them. There's one thing that bugs me tough... That UV seam on left side of the shell on the last picture. :) Oh well, no one will see it ingame when the shells are flying.

    this is something that would be programed in via Krenzo... i just renamed the model real quick to see what it would look like.

    oh man damn i didnt see that , i think that is the damn alpha channel , easy fix...actually it was not the texture it was the uv maping was touching the edge of the bounds, i moved it up a fraction and its all good now, recompile time though :|

    well i should just rename this thread to my wip stuff.. i finally found out the key to normal maping along with uv maping in general... my rock prop is now in full effect... :)
