    I sample old records and they didn't obviously didn't have great equipment. Sound quality doesn't bother me as much as it use to, I really care more about drum tones but youtube doesn't do them much justice. It sounds more clear when you use 480p instead of 360p though.

    Download some free samples (drum hits, kicks etc.) and use them if you're using a sequencer like FL Studio, Ableton etc. Guessing you're using physical drums and record from there.

    I did that leet muffin when I first started. I grew out of making loops and using fruityloops, I like sampling break beats which have less quality but more soul. I kinda go for a lo-fi grungy sound sometimes like the orginal song I post.

    Reason is better for recording instruments and FL is better for making loops with samples. I personally use sony acid pro which is basically a pirate-able pro tools.

    for recording i would use cubase. i find fruityloops to sound flat in comparison to reason. to me it sounds like flps would kill the dynamics ...
