I need to know how i fucked up the smoothing groups
    [IMG]
I did, basically, add a smoothing group to each 4 sides, and top & bottom.
This bugs me; the grip is fucked up, and if i smooth the shit, artifacts appear as black gradiented triangles all over.

I need to know how to smooth correctly.

    Without smoothing + lots of chrome ;D :D :D

You put smoothing groups where you want it to be smooth, faces smooth across a single group, so if three faces have group 1, they'll smooth together.

You can apply multiple groups to 1 face, so if 3 faces have smoothing group 1, and three parallel faces have smoothing group 2, the two will smooth separately, if you then apply smoothing group 2 to the central face of the first group, that face will blend into the second group, while still blending with the rest of the first group.

    It's not hard to do.

could you mspaint my pic with arrows and shit to point out where i group the shit?
    On the grip
Now, there are 4, on each sides.
If i do as one group, triangles appear.

from how i read chris' reply and without any knowledge of ... err i assume its either 3ds or XSI ... try making the grip out of at least 2 smoothing groups then.

as either face can have multiple groups. try sides and front and sides and back.

but as i said - i have no clue at all. i only read chris' reply ^^
