Empires has been receiving some well deserved recognition lately. Steamfriends.com rated Empires the second best Half-Life 2 mod of 2007, and Mod DB's player choice awards for mod of the year rated Empires the third best mod of 2007 of any game. I'd like to thank all of you who voted in the Mod DB awards, and I'm proud that we earned such a top spot. A new hot fix, version 2.12, is available to fix a crash and introduce an indicator which shows how your resources are changing per second. Progress is being made on moving Empires to the Orange Box engine with the new SDK that was released a short time ago, and I'm hopeful it will fix a lot of issues that have been reported which are due to the engine and not Empire's code.
congrats krenzo you (and the other dev's) put so much work into this mod, and its good to see you get some recognition for it.
Well earned. As far as I'm concerned Insurgency doesn't count as #1, but I have never played Project Reality, so as far as I, and I know others are concerned, Empires is #1. Congratulations to the entire dev team.
I don't see how Insurgency beat Project Reality. In terms of mod quality and sheer devotion, I'd say Forgotten Hope easily beats everything. Empires FTW in source. Hey guys, lets make a mod of Empires?
Yeh, but Forgotten Hope 2 suffers from really poorly designed maps. Only a few of its Infantry maps are any good. They would have been more successful if they just made an arcadey WW2 mod for Bf2 (Eg BF1942 on BF2 engine) Post some of the award photos on the front page! Insurgency has done a much better job of posting their awards

3rd place out of ALL the mods for ALL the games... Not too shabby Considering that Project Reality is on a different engine, and Insurgency is basically a hyped-up CSS (probably why so many lemmings voted for it), I'd say it's an incredible milestone for Empires. Looking forward to even better results in the next year's contest. Krenzo/DonMegel for 2008!
You should have submittid ver 3.0 to the up comming mods. Post some aircraft models. You might have won two awards!
^,^; Love the image. If we are to get the number 1 spot, we need to remove the com chair, make players each have thier own money total, and make the maps 10x as small. That'll make the bastards happy. Source is easily the best moddable game, its no suprise the majority of the mods are source. The BF2 mods are all makeovers, different classes spawn points, weapons, etc. Not actual changing of the core gameplay but with what tools already in place and able to be tweaked.
I think the results were fair, although I haven't played Project Reality. Good job devs with Empires. Hopefully Empires will win MOTY 2008!
