If I remember reading somewhere that the max aircraft speed around 600miles/sec, which is likely for the fighter. It would take it about 30sec to go from one end to the other end of a map. Of course other planes will be slower and you're not going to hit anything at that speed, so it'll take a couple of mins to get from place to place.
The way I see it 16x map are perfect for planes, which are what they are meant to be for, 8x maps are better for tanks/planes, and 1x maps are for infantry/tanks. Although I think you're going to be able to select different amount of scaling.
16x maps don't have to fill the grid, that's the maximum size. 600 miles/sec sounds a bit excessive, are you sure you didn't mean 600mph?
600 miles in a second will get you across the atlantic or pacific in less than 5 minutes, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less.
Actually I believe the speed Krenzo gave was 600 knots.

So people with lower resolutions move quicker than people with higher resolutions? Sweet.
I worry what will happen to bases that are built RIGHT ALONG THE EDGE OF THE MAP. Will aircarft come crashing into an invisible wall and fall down? or will the 16 maps be desigend so that can't happen?
tI would imagine that instead of walls, theire would be either a: a BF style designated war zone, or b: instead of a wall, its an invisible wind that gently forces you back to the general map.

I'd add some space beyond allowed space, and use trigger_push entities to force you back. Don't want to go back? Fine, you'll stall and drop to your death.

Just like a base built against a mountain in real life has an advantage.
3phase jeeps better come standard with x16.
not 3phase unless the spin out is fixed, not fair to force the hardest to control engine on everyone. I'd imagine a general engine overhaul.
Slow down when you turn... There was a hardcoded slow down when you turned; that stopped spinning out, but the engine became ass slow...
I'd add an auto-research for the 3 phase to 16X maps, maybe coolant too for vehicles, if they're split up into vehicle and aircraft engines.
I would think the best solution would be a bf-esque area limit which applies to all units, perhaps even a separate one for ground vehicles and aircraft. That would let an aircraft fly out of the combat zone if it had to (perhaps even land outside of it to repair or something) thus negating the advantage of bases built near the edge of the map.
If you want to give aircraft the same disadvantage as flying against a mountain, make a mountain.
Separate names with a comma.
