I have noticed it more and more, but in games the mini map shows tanks where they r not. They will apper on the map for a few sec then dissapear and there was no tank there in the first place    It does get quite annoying when u are attacking and suddnly turn around thinking there is an enemy in ur base, then when u get there, there is nothing there. It may be the map as well because I have noticed that it has has happend on emp_cyclopan more than any other map but does happen on all classic maps.
GJ with the spelling. I notice this too, it seems to occur when the enemy creates a vehicle while your radar can see their VF.It tends to be annoying to think there's a heavy behind you while you're in the middle of a fight.
This happens when an enemy vehicle/player appears on the minimap and you are far away from them. Their correct position is shown on the next distant minimap objects update.
Isn't that great to have to stare at the minimap for 5 seconds until it updates. 5 seconds can win games (or loose...)
how many times have i suicided back to base to stop one of these ghost players or vehicles? too many.
never noticed it myself but then again if I'm somewhere far away from the base and the comm doesn't start screaming I'll just continue with whatever I was doing
This also occurs when a spectator has joined a team, and his spectator location is still shown on the minimap (again, due to lack of an update). It's not really a bug, just an issue that pops up to save bandwidth.
SPIES BUGGING MY MINIMAP? Sometimes I get scared because there is an enemy on the comm view minimap right beside the CV. 70% of the time it isn't. Just wait and HOLY SHIT BEERDUDE WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ON YOUR SIGNATURE
I'm just posting here to say that I confirmed it and I have talked with mootant about it. He has some ideas, maybe we'll see a fix to it.
It will usually occur whenever a player or tank is created and the location of the entity has not yet been updated on the minimap. On a local server you wouldn't notice, but several servers have the minimap-updating-variable on a pretty high number, so it stays there for a few seconds. Nothing that can be done about it I think
You could fix it by triggering an instant minimap update for a single entity when the proper conditions occur. If a building is placed, UPDATE. If a building/vehicle/infantry gets spotted, UPDATE. If a player enters a camera's LOS, UPDATE.
