An idea I just had, a different mine. This could either replace the current or be an option.(maybe researchable) that have reduced damage, but will stall the engine (i.e bump up the heat bar considerably), This would make the mines play a more strategic role for grenadiers, rather than just something you just throw down and wait for to rack up the kills.
What about a single mine grenadiers can carry, that permanently cripples a vehicle's ability to drive, doing just about no damage.
I think it would be cool if you could bury your mines. If you spend 5 seconds holding down on the mine when laying it it becomes invisible to enemies. In real life, you don't see enemy mines.
I would though like to see the grenadier having to choose between 2 sorts of mines: anti-infantry anti-vehicle
Grape head doesn't like it. I think a kind of "Flat tire" mine would be pretty cool, it'd open up new tactics of rather than planting a field to kill a tank, you can cripple the thing and while he's going "Wtf, why can't I drive?" you could be blasting away with rockets. Maybe make it a larger detonation and 'damage' radius, but make it harder to see and not extremely effective vs. infantry, maybe Drain stamina and do ~50 damage?
Wait I have had a great idea. This will be so cool. I dont know why no one has sudgested this before. Why not have a mine that when it goes off will blow up the vehicle and kill any passengers. That way you dont have to worry about that tank again?
anti-infantry - bigger radius, explosion force will just make 100 damage. anti-vehicle - smaller radius, explosion force will do current damage to vehicles. Just an idea.
hmm yeah well mootants idea is ok but.... i don´t know... you could make everything way more complex and stuff so ... it´s ok as it is but something like an anti infantrie mine and anti vehicle mine would be cool but you don´t really need them. for that matter do you acctualy need . but ahhhhh what ever .... nce idea though
I like the idea of burying mines if you hold it down for 10 seconds or whatever, but it would be difficult to balance. Maybe Scouts and Grens with Defusal would be able to see 'em, but I dunno. I more like the idea of AP and AT mines. Anti-Personnel would shoot up a spray of bullets/shrapnel, likely killing the infantryman. Anti-Tank would have the standard explosion, but infantry would be too light to activate them. You'd probably have to model another mine, but it would be sweet.
In IRC we were discussing "the other type of ninja", where an grenadier drops 9 mines to kill three or four structures at once. we came to the conclusion that ideally, 8 mines should be able to kill one structure exactly (if the mines are placed inside), or damage several if placed between them. this would be balanced, right? how does that sound?
Engineers can place mines? I've been playing this game the wrong way all along then. Not-so-sneaky edit there Private Sandbag
