As many of you have probably realized by now, I don't have a computer here at university that i can play Empires on . Of course, i still read the forums every day to stay up to date on new developments. Anyway, I was thinking that to help satisfy my daily Empires cravings I would start this thread. What are some of the most memorable moments that you have had with Empires? I'm looking for times that just left you breathless, when couldn't help but stop and say "wow." Personally, I remember one game of Escort where it took Brenodi about 80% of the game they were stuck trying to capture the 1st flag. I was on their team, of course, and let me tell you, the NF were doing a damn fine job of defending. They probably could have ended the game like that, but fortunately we eventually broke through. The next 10 minutes consisted the Brenodi leading a total blitzkrieg through the rest of the level. The NF just couldn't regroup and their defenses crumbled. By the end of the game, the Brenodi were clearly the victors and had experienced one of the most amazing comebacks I've ever seen. It was one of those games that looked predictable, but wasn't. After it was over, all I could think about was the amazing performance of both teams. This was certainly Empires at its finest. :D
My favorite moment of all time happened recently. A light tank was driving, ran over a mine, did a flip into a BE AFV or medium, can't remember. When the LT hit the BE tank, they both instantly exploded killing everyone. It was really the best empires moment ever.
man too many great moments.. to think of just one is hard.. but i remember one time me and shinzon were cruising around in our jeep and(at full speed) i shot a random mowtar shell towards a guy building a turret which lucky for me hit him dead on.. it was pretty cool or one time on glycencity i was shooting random shells towards the choke points as i was walking to mid and agian luckily hit an apc with 4 people in it.. its cool when you shoot a shell out of your viewing distance and then 4 seconds later you get 4 kills
lets see... -there was the match tonight where rat's tank got mined, and it flew into the air and literally did a longitudinal 720 before landing ON IT'S TREADS. literally, it rotated side over side and did two loops. Mind boggling, and I'm cursing myself for not getting a demo of it. -There was the the time someone snuck into the enemy base on crossroads and managed to put up a rax, we all killspawned at the same time and ended the game in 30 seconds... that's in the forums somewhere, i described it. -I engaged in a duel with Goose on duststorm with a full server... i sniped him, he respawned, i shot at him and fell back, he chased me all over the map until i finally ambushed him- the whole thing lasted like 10 minutes of me running away trying to get a good position -A beautifully perfect APC rush on crossroads, we're pinned down as they control the middle, someone clears a few mls on the left side, I get a look at all the level 3s on the right, comm decides to charge left side, with the apc following closely behind, the left side tank traps were down and everything focused on the CV not the APC... rush in, blew the enemy base away... -jeep races! -the one time on slaughtered when we were pinned down hopelessly in our original base, arklansman was able to sneak to the enemy CV as a gren... I hear teamspeak talk about 9-mining... and Ark types alltalk: "FOR JPL!" and..... nothing. He 9-mines the cv, and it explodes into the side of a mountain, where it proceeds to slide down and land right-side-up... on it's wheels. lol.
being a machinegunner in Opie's light tank recently- him doing a handbrake turn around a corner and me gunning down two startled engineers dead. a jeep hurtling towards me at 50 miles an hour, just crouching with the scout rifle and making a nice shepherds pie of the drivers face.... holding a two man flag on my own on glycen (5v5 match- i was under a different name :p) as a grenadier for ten minutes against several vehicles as well as endless men until backup could arrive to cap the flag with me. just insanely satisfying when your team comes to save your arse just when you're low on ammo and health.
oh i just remembered.. recently i was just driving jeeps around trying to run over people on glycen and someone(i cant remember who) litterally jumped over my speeding jeep as i was about to hit him.. it was pretty cool.. and then i tried it and failed
When I came on the server in a bad mood, spawned, got shot, and left. I think those moments are always pretty funny.
Once when they were playing with the physics for tanks on valley I watched a heavy Beerdude was driving do a full backflip into the air and up onto a cliff behind him, land perfectly on its treads, and then he drove away. It was both amazing and hilarious.
I remember this one moment when there was a flaw which made your enemy drive faster in their vehicles when you hit them at something which damaged their vehicle. I was on mvalley in a medium tank and I think enemy APC started to shoot at me and I was just at that moment driving towards one of those 90 degree walls. Well, what else could have happened than I got the massive speed boost and drove up that straight up wall on top of the hill. (Not the center one.) That was fun because normally you can't do that on any engine. I think I even got some airtime before I landed on the hill. We need more that kind of moments. Or at least something like this: :D
-In an Infantry wars battle in the middle of the map where 1 NF squad led by me and some brendoni attachment we're in a constant fight for about an hour. But it gets better! I was prone near my armory shooting at some wanker when a brendoni in a jeep drives at me full speed. Luckly, one of my men fired a rocket killing the Brendoni inside and hurling the jeep through the air where it did a flip and landed on me perfictly causing one of the best Lolerdeaths I have seen in quite some time. - A year or so ago in 1.06, I was the NF commander and things were going shitty, but all of a sudden we had a breakthrough (teamwork happened ), we began to build more refs and defences and suddenly we were floating in cash so I got heavy tanks, nukes, engines, armors the works and we pwned BE into next thursday.
Playing under emp_recruit and raping Gi-Jane untill she leaves the server. Gi-Jane: Your such a newb you don't even know how to change your name. Emp_Recruit: Uh did I just not kill you 10 times in a row? i cant remember if it was you or not.. but back in the day some (as you guys would say) "asshat" was on the bsid server talkin shit so whoever was admin(i think u) changed his shoot key to suicide.. it was pretty funny because he was scout and we kept waiting for him to shoot.. lol we ended up saying things like "you know somtimes random shots get kills" lol took him like 15 mins before he shot and then another 15 mins to figure out what killed him
If someone did that to me, but made the execs be that fire set my updaterate to 100 or something like that, I'd kill people.
