Is fucking awesome. Discuss. If you don't have it, get it. You probably won't be disappointed. In other news, I am tired of your disingenous assertions. Oh, and probable spoiler alert below. Read at your own risk.
Miranda is such a cold-hearted bitch, I got her killed as soon as I could. Also, Garrus is probably my favorite character: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkSrN-f04qI
Meh, didn't mind her so much. I can't get the last mission finished without losing a couple people though.
its a great let down compared to expectations, dev feed and concept art it concept was dark and awesome, the game is too casual to archieve that also armor and weapons are just a joke it is however satifing to see 4 loki's getting air'd after being hit with a strongshockwave
THIS ONE HAS HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR SOLID WASTE EXCRETIONS caps I couldn't stop laughing the first time I heard that
Once you dig deeper into Mirandas personality you learn to like her too. The only character that I somehow didn't identify at all was that assassin. I most other characters. Also you can somehow make everyone survive. Google it, didn't do it myself yet. Had 4 dead people at the end . I'm on my second playthrough but had to play Bioshock 2 first. Now that game was amazing. I think I even liked it more then Mass Effect. They could tell a good story with interesting twists in only 1/3 or even less of the time. I don't really like these games of epic proportions anymore
Go play some old games and be grateful. They were good, but hell, new games are waaaay better. Empiresmod's UI is better than most old games. Yeah, that's right.
Depends what old games you are playing Empty. A lot of the ones I just dusted out have had a lot more effort go into them. And I don't mean models and graphics, though they did for that too, I mean true blue gameplay. I'm in the middle of Mass Effect 1 now. It's pretty good, but I stopped playing about 2-3 months ago, because ya know what? There ain't a lot for me to do. It really is an interactive story, but not so much in the old adventure-game way, but more in the "this is cool, but not so much interesting" way. Don't get me wrong, I really love the style and actors and most of it, there just isn't that much in the way of things to actually *do*. Sure there's quests to do, but at the end of the day, there's not that much of a combat system to play with. It's less adaptive than FPS combat (although i'll admit, just as 'actiony'), and it's also roleplay system light. Most things consist of just talking to people and making a choice, not something I have a problem with, except that when all's said and done, there's a gap in the middle where the elements overlap into a core of fun. And no, I don't particularly find making my companions have sex with me, that interesting (especially when none of them are too my tastes). Hell, almost tempted to do Alenko, except you can't as a guy (go figure, eh)...and tbh, I keep seeing Carth from KoTR there, who was much cooler. Heh, too bad ME1's version of Bastila just isn't quite the looker.
I never said the gameplay was crap. The old games are GREAT. The UI is terrible, take Tiberium sun. They have awesome sprites, maps, storyline, campaigns etc, but they're still using CnC golds AWFUL UI. In particular, unit creation, building creation, superweapons, everything is on two bars, as well as choosing primary structures, which is annoying. Same with Quake 2, game is fun, combats fun, singleplayer is fun, the objectives are unclear and annoying, and there's backtracking with no real indication that you should head back. They're both fun games (mostly SP.) but they have glaring issues that you don't get in modern games
if they are not loyal, they die no matter what if you send a guy with the crew, mordin dies leaves a fucking small time gap between legions loyalty quest and the time you have untill your crew becomes a dna pulp kinda sucks, because bringing legion onboard the migrant fleet was my most evil and hilarious plan, but the cost was kinda high
Anyway, ME2 looks pretty cool, and I wanna give it a shot at some point. Huge download though, so I might end up buying it for sake of easyness.
I didn't say it was crap either. And I think you're tarnishing every game with the same brush, i've seen some good older UI's in my time. Though ONE thing that is utterly excellent in the new UI's is the ability to be transparent. They're also generally smoother, but that's all down to graphics. I guess it helps that HCI is actually a whole subject on it's own now, compared to back in the day
It's certainly not true of all of them, I agree. But it's still painful to play some of the old games.
I had everyone survive, you just need the right people to do certain thing, miranda or garrus for fire team leaders, tali or legion for the pipe thingy, a loyal crew member (I use Jacob) for the escort, and Samara or Jack for the biotic shield part. Also, the two people you take with you for the final battle will live if loyal, otherwise they die.
