I'm making another one map list, and I'm confused what the community would like to see in one.
I want to create simple and fast to read list with simple information, especially easy to read for new players.
For now my plans are to:
    • include credits for all maps in the guide
    • categorize them in some order
    • add basic information about ref output and points to capture
And when getting more and more maps, I started wondering if should it be changed into one big list of ALL availible maps, or as much as there are to download, and other.
So, I'm asking You to answer these questions, maybe give some feedback and what do you think about the guide as a guide and a list.
    1. Should the list include most played/official/all maps?
    2. Minimaps should be taken from files or screen (in files you don't have indicators about buildings)?
    3. What order would be the best? Alphabetical, classic/infantry?
    4. What kind of information is 'basic'?
    5. Should it include tips, strategies etc?
I'm doing this guide not for me but for the people. If you don't care about it leave the thread, but if you do seem interested please answer. I want to make it a resource to use by community.

The most useful info for me would be:
    • Minimap or other relevant image (like how I did them here: https://forums.empiresmod.com/index.php?threads/2-12-map-rerelease.11784/)
    • Some indication of the res flowrate (low, normal, high? where normal is something like canyon/mvalley res flowrate)
    • The type of map, e.g. infantry, commander, other (think empirescup)
    • Any notable differences (i.e. like BE attacks/NF defends on escort)
As for organization, I'd say group the maps together (commander with commander, infantry-only with infantry-only). Also, it'd be great if you could provide a link back to the original release thread for the map where possible.

How to best play the map, common tactics and counters.
Newbie mistakes made on the map

    Ill give an example canyon
    - Taking c5 hill as NF and putting rax vf on there basicly putting your main there, same goes for e2 hill for BE. Taking over either of these 2 bases early on as opposing team is a game winning event.
    - Pushing the e3-e2 area as nf is very hard due to the highground advantage and the be rax thats there. Its better to hold that bend and try to force an attack from the west flank from c2 onwards.
    - It's a very chokepointy map so get ready for real trenchwarfare.
    - theres a position at c1 hidden away where a rax can fit
    - newbie mistakes are to push your chokepoint without fortifying it or building a rax. Ground is taken back really easily in canyon.
    - Chemistry is a great research tree here

I think I'll add res rate but i may have probles with categorizing them into normal/high etc.
Minimap is for sure, but still wondering WHICH ONE should I use

hmmm, writing something like that might take reaaly long (also probably I don't know half of these map tips soo i could use help with that)
but yeah, sounds pretty solid for me

i thought this going to be a quick overview of maps, not a complete guide to empires including all maps (mostly @Paradox)

also be sure, as soon as a strategy is well established (ie most players know and follow it) a new strategy countering it will be found making it void again.

well, the strategy thing i wanted to be like 'on SoF it's kinda nice to defend bridge and all', not the more serious like apc rushing on mvalley

then you get ppl to clusterfuck bridge and forget about the sideroute. if you want to do per map strategies thats fine but dont detail it too much. dont present "set in stone" strategies bc they will become outdated soon. the best strategy is to stay flexible, know your strengths and weaknesses and adapt to the situation - sadly this requires experience and will be very hard to compile into a guide - at least none that will become tl;dr. whos gonna read a hundred page book about empires? :D

i'm not trying to tell players what to do, but to let them see what map areas are important and which aren't

    I Fucking Love it.
Lets have more guides, I might write one myself; entirely based about which map makes Paradox the saltiest.

in alphabetical order with an indicator of what type of map it is. maybe color coded?
you dont really need to know what buildings there are. just where the starts are/flags
no need for strategies, since they always change. same for res, the past 100 versions have been res overkill, it could change. just a quick idea of what the map is (joke map like rainbowroad, one lane map like bootybay, actual map like ballast) would suffice

if i was setting up a server this is what i would look for. too much information would make it hard to navigate
