I've had this a while now since 2.25 has been released. In 2.24 I could play Empires with max settings with 4x AA and I had decent FPS. Now I play with these settings for Empires: I used Xfire to monitor my FPS and it's usually 50 to 250. 250 was the highest I've ever seen in Empires. However, I turned on net_graph 1 and it said my FPS was 22-30 when Xfire said it was 50. So I fired up Source SDK Base 2007 and I used these settings: Now after I ran that it said this: My current computer information: Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz Memory: 2048MB RAM Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100618-1621) Video Card Info: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Display Memory: 1267 MB Dedicated Memory: 499 MB Shared Memory: 767 MB Driver Version: 8.17.12.5721 Is this normal to experience this FPS? When I spawn and walk around I have usually 100+ FPS according to Xfire. I also installed pickled_heretic's cheap particles.
Your E-penis is dragging on the ground, causing some slowing of FPS... on a more serious note: Empty made new particles :DDDDD on an actual serious note: Net graph will give lines as to what is eatting up your frames. a pic of that would be more helpful than your vid settings :D
Those don't look completely out of place, depending on your resolution, which is probably not 1024x640. (edit: I'm an idiot. I see that 1440x900.) Dollars to donuts, +showbudget will just show a massive line for world rendering or swap buffers. A better question is: When did you start using net_graph instead of Xfire for measuring fps?
show budget will show what part of maps are lagging you. It helped solved an issue with the soundscapes on district.
Ok I started a local game on Money and I turned on +showbudget, what am I supposed to be looking for? Should I get a screenshot when my FPS is suffering?
yes, run around and try to find an area/map that kicks your video card in the balls and take a screen of it with +showbudget on. Make sure to fill the graph at least half way in with the part that is killing you.
Yes. You can also record a demo and play it with cheats and showbudget on (lower load but rendering is still there).
Ok I have several screen shots for you guys. My FPS was below 20 90% of the game. I did notice my choke was 20-30 at times and some times it even reached 70 and stayed there for a while. The last screen shot was taken while playing not in the demo.
Try cl_showfps instead of net_graph (especially 2,3,4). Also record and showbudget a game on official map or a well optimized map. I don't know if this snowy map has correct visiblity blocking for models. It may be that it's trying to render all the models that are behind these displacements.
It's hard to find a server running an official map, however, I will get the info as soon as possible.
It's one of Silk's, shouldn't be too bad...I think he did redo it for OB code, but it might not be 100%.
I have maps dropping to 9fps after being at or around at least 40 the majority of the map. This problem has only started happening in 2.25.. I thought it might be the particles but its clear now, something else is fucking up. Empires taking up like 512mbs of ram.
On octagons I was running Empires with everything on Low, no anti aliasing, no HDR, no color correction, no motion blur, trillinear filtering at 800x600 resolution and I had 30 FPS looking at some tanks in the background.
Ok I had those settings and I played with 50-60 FPS with like 10 people on cyclopean. Sure that's good FPS but those settings for my PC doesn't seem like they're normal. Would you like the screenshots of the demo and +showbudget?
