Seems like a lot of coding which i have no knowledge of. There is not a program ready to go without setting shenanigans?
thats not coding. its copy and pasting into a text file. im not a coder at all. the map editor is much more confusing
you need 2 things for mapping. patience and balls. patience to google and read dozens of articles and tutorials and balls to simply try out things even if you aint a 100% sure. dont worry too much, you cant physically damage your computer, nor waste your operating system by editing any files of the empires installation. the worst thing that can happen is that you need to redownload empires (or, since its usually only one file, ask here for someone to send it to you - or even better, the ideal case so to say, make a backup before you change stuff)
You should be able to just open Steam\SteamApps\common\Empires\bin\hammer.exe Or do I misunderstand your question? I've edited the thread you linked to and fixed all the links (except 3 I couldn't find, as shown). I used the forum search function *shock! horror! the search function works?* to search the names of the links.
