Yeah, and on top of that, the overall experience will be worse. Body language is pretty important in these games.

You still have to imagine lots of things, but some actions are much much easier displayed than explained in words. On top of that, if you don't speak English natively (my sister), some gestures are a huge help.

Ah, well that's a good point. Wait does that mean she's gonna play with us? That's potentially about 7 people altogether so far. That's a lot of people.

5 people is the upper limit imo, more would cause some to never get their word in. I'm sure someone's timetable won't allow for playing. Also, we can always cycle through people on different sessions if we decide to continue with it ;)

I'm up for this, although I do not currently have a webcam, I think.

Don't you like, have a laptop? Most come with a shitty webcam that will work well enough.

Just do teamspeak, it's easier and it doesn't depend on fast internet connections like webcams do.

Didn't you agree that we didn't need webcams before and now you want everyone to have one?

I don't even own a webcam because why the fuck would I need one?
Also fuck skype, we have teamspeak servers we don't need skype.

I never did say that, my point still stands - a webcam enhances the experience.

Ah...I might be interested, but...not sure. It's been a fair few years since I've rp'd (well apart from on forums anyway), and no offence I'm not sure you guys need to know what I look like.

I'd also be interested, depending on the time slot. I haven't played DnD so far, but quite a lot of Fallout (GURPS). Also I am used to using roll20 and still got a Supporter level account for roughly a year. (I also made maps and icons for my games.)
From my experience it's easier to use Skype for these, because you have a lot less lag when you start talking compared to TS. I also already own a webcam and wouldn't have a problem with using it.

So all in all, I'd just have to read into DnD rules and I'd be ready to go. I'd also gladly help out with DMing. The only problem I ever had with that is, I have a hard time thinking of a good story to tell.

My current plan is a cave of simple monsters, it can't be that bad.

Yeah you can use a lot of stock assets on the site. Just tell me, if you want to use dynamic lighting and line of sight mechanics. You need at least Supporter level to set that up.

I was thinking of just describing things because everyone here has god-like imaginations.

For simple environments yes that's probably a lot better and faster to do. But as soon as you get into battle, you want to have some map of sorts. It helps you and the players to keep track of everything a lot.

it will also appear fairer to players - without a map youll have constant complaints about, "oh i was standing there, i thought i was standing there". apart of, DnD requires you to have a gameboard, a lot of stuff is dependent on range.
