Let's (actually) play ... Dwarf Fortress!

im in for succession game, someone set up some rules, and how long should be played, since i find 1 year as standard a little short...

 

I'm in, I guess. I'll do my best. If the fort goes down under me. I'll blame it on someone else.

 

is it okay if i use a modded config? stuff like almost no immigrants etc

 

I have a fortress...

But I have a problem...

I have a plague, there are rats and lizzards everywhere D:

How do you fix this? D:

 

I have none -___- can't I assign a dwarf to get on a rampage and butcher all the lizards and rats?

 

make someone animal trapper as only job, build lots of animal traps and in the animal pen make him catch small land animals

once he is legendary in it you will have lots of lizard meat and no lizards

 

Wow, can things get even better?

I have been robbed 3 times,
I tried to construct a well and my entire food storage flooded,
My people are organising a party and stuff never gets constructed,
And 2 of my men are gay(Wich means they wont get children),

did you follow a tutorial properly?
If you do, things don't tend to go quite so badly to the dogs!

 

on the robbed: try to organize your fortress so that most activity stays inside the fortress

sh*t happens when constructing a well

if they organise a party and stuff never gets constructed you need to assign someone with no jobs on as "organizer" in the nobles screen (press "n"), if you have a fortress larger then 80 or so dwarven it can be advisable to have a dwarf that does nothing else then be the organizer, not even do the stock keeping or carry stuff
at population 100 i mostly have 1 dwarf dedicated as bookkeeper and trader, and 1 dwarf as organizer
once they become very good at it the stuff will get done very very quickly

and thats awesome, i wish i had more gays because gayness is okay! and i don't have to make sure no children get snatched
