League

Think we could support a league?

We have JPL/BSID/CW/ONE/ZMB and I am seeing others beginning to appear.

Just an idea right now. What would it entail?

 

Well that would rock.
Four clans in a tornamite would work.
That would rock.

 

Before making league you need stable game.

 

1.071beta IS stable. I havent crashed in months.

 

I just crashed a few minutes ago, but then again virus scanner updates & PC games never do get along.

 

I crashed 3 times in the last game, where in the end the server crashed.
Game before that I crashed 2 times and the server crashed in the end aswell.

 

Well I think we are getting off topic :D

Are other clans up for joining a league if it is created? What kind of ruling body would it have? How often would matches be?

Please discuss.

As for crashing, play on the CW server then :-) Hasn't crashed yet

 

i dunno about all this jive with a league and all that, but im sure we can get scrims going

 

A league just means all of the scrims would add up to something... so the best clan could be proven :-)

 

Best clan = Retarded competitiveness to the extreme, I don't want any clan to yell out that they're the best because they won a few games. It'll just create tensions between clans.

 

Call it friendly scrims... As it stands right now all of the clans are pretty much fat lazy couch potatoes pretty much sitting on their preverbial arses; just screaming...

Think of this as a way to get into shape and incourage community activity; and besides wouldn't it be cool to play against people who actualy know what they are doing for a change?

exactly i would rather enjoy some friendly games with people WHO ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO PLAY!

im tierd of having to explain how to play or join a squad everytime i play

I just figure it is probably a lot easier to create a league with 5 clans than 15 clans down the road... infrastructure wise.

And once the foundation is laid with the small initial number, new clans could join.

It may even foster the creation of new clans from people that see the league and want to participate.

Anybody want to help me set it up? Or at least discuss it in more depth?

I realize it is more structured than half-assed-ly planned clan matches, but it would still be fun :D

This league will fail hard.

By the time we get everything set up (i.e. the rules and stuff) the clans that started it all will already pass away/too little clans are interested.

This kind of thing will be a waste of energy.

 

Sadly Even, they are correct. At the time this just isn't preactical. Although in the near future (1.08-1.10) this would be an interesting idea. We just need a larger player and clan base first.

 

SourceForts has nice web site for clans/league. We could copy general idea. When next version will be out and I'll have some time I could try doing something. I'll need hosting. (it's not bad to have it even with 4 clans, it's about bugs and lots of exploits)

 

Well I can cover any hosting needed. And what I meant is that although 4 clans my be "almost" enough, clans come and go. With a larger number of clans, the loss of a few won't hurt it much. With four clans, a loss would be devastating.
