I used to love this MOD, but lately it's been blah. I can't wait for something new to come out to revitalize my love for the mod but untill then I don't think i'll play it for a while, its just too repetitive right now.
I already thought the turrets were quite weak....? well, lev 3 isn't! but that's because it's not meant to be...
I thought turrets were fine. The only things that should be able to get them are arty, and ingenuitive engineers. I think that LAST thing we need is weak turrets. Sorry, but I prefer long drawn out games, just as I do RTS games. This isn't CS, thus I don't want rounds to last 5 minutes.
That's my problem with them. Only a small number of things are remotely effective against them while everything else just has to sit and twiddle their thumbs and wait. Not my idea of fun in all honesty

Well, I can't count how many times I've had to travel a longer route becuase of a turret when I was a riflemen, and I also can't count how many spelling errors you just made.

what the HELL is the point in turrets if they can't stop you? if you're a rifleman and you can't get past them, THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT! they are there deliberately to REPLACE actual human defenders, so the team can go on one front, and the other front can be defended. finally: if you can't get past, you're not working in a squad, and so you're not going to get very far anyway. what's your point dee?
I think a DoW thing should be done to the Ref's, turn them into a turrent outpost tower, but weaker firepower, but enough to stop guys from hiding there ;/. then again i think the regular infantry should be beefed up a bit more to compensate or a research to a bit more better armor for one's infantry, or! a soldier editing thing ;o got your weight and cost select your guys armor and weapon, thus limited by weight and slows him down on how heavy, helment or not, meh helms should be mandatory ;p but that should be open if you could later in the game, so after a research you could get better equipment upgrades plus each soldier should get paid a little bit out of he whole, like a seperate money system x.x i dunno like the skill point system, nm im going on and on with this. ;o so i dunno, how about some tank barricades? you know those X looking things, i kinda liked doing that with walls but it took to long ;/
The point is; It isn't fun. When something isn't fun; It's not working. Sitting around hoping someone will come along to do everything for you isn't many people's idea of fun. --- The joke of it all is that something as simple as removing vertical recoil from tanks would increase their effectiveness against turrets a great deal but apparantly, this is unacceptable for the empires community.
(this is against the argument I'm about to put forth) A riflemens stash of nades without the increased ammo skill will take down one turret. If you put enough bullets into a turret shouldnt it go down anyways? Honestly I've had a change of heart, even though debuffing turrets a little would increase the speed of the game, that would hurt gameplay. Com's count on turrets to stop ninja's from walking in and very anti-climattically ending the game. Thats not what empires is about, cha know?
You can be surprized what a ninja can do with a jeep... From blocking the turret to even flipping the com over...

I tried to play empires again just now. There were all of 10 people playing across all servers....and that dropped really fast. I don't consider playing with a team of idiots who don't understand how the game works to be fun. It wasn't turrets, it wasn't arty (for once) it was idiots. I'm tired of being the only person who understands that you need to build stuff, like refineries, to get anywhere. I give up....I seriously, just give up. I'll go back to playing AOE where being a "commander" is fun, because people do what you tell them to.
I've been playing Company of Heroes over the past few days, and I would love to have real people playing the units I'm commanding. Having to micromanage troops and tanks because their AI is lacking is not fun. If the game allows you to build excessive units and just overpower the other team, then poor AI doesn't matter. Otherwise, you have to rely on tactics which is hard to come by in a game where you have to manage many units at once. Commanding in Empires takes a load off your mind because you don't have to worry about watching your units to tell them to attack people who are around them, they'll naturally do it themselves.
So basically, you made Empires because you thought all the other RTS games sucked real bad and you wanted to have real people to shout at. In conclusion then, what you are saying is that we're your (clever lol) AI?
