Just as a point to make, nobody can bitch about steam any more. It has such little downtime, works great, rarely glitches or screws up, and finds a fast mirror for you.

Originally, yes. It was shit. I remember waiting hours for HL2. But it was worth it. Steam is great. The only time I've had it screw up is user error :P

    EDIT: Have you restarted steam?
Also, if it still doesn't work, remove the second steam, I thinkt hat's just on LordDzs computer :P

In the path he gave it has steam/ in there twice, make sure the location of the mod folder is:
    Code:
    Steam/steamapps/sourcemods/

    Preceding it can be either
    Code:
    c:/program files/
    or
    Code:
    c:/program files/valve/
    .

Its the right folder where its installed but still nothing.

My comp doesn't reconise it as an installed program, so i think steam reconizes it as some maps and all but no mod.

Are you sure it's installed correctly? The path should be:
    Steam/steamapps/Sourcemods/Empires/
In that folder you should find all the mod's contents. Are you sure you downloaded 2.1 full and then the update? There is a 2.0 to 2.1 path, that is not the whole mod.

Use the 2.1 full installer first, make sure it will install to Steam/steamapps/Sourcemods/.
Then, install the 2.12 hotfix in the same location. After that, you should find the folder Empires containing all mod contents.
Restart Steam, and the mod should show up.
Make sure to scroll up and down to make sure you can see everything in the list.

Done everything what you said and still no Empires in my steam :(

I had to put counterstrike, half life 2, episode 1+2, portal and team fortress my self in the list to. They didn't automaticly list them self, but if i browse to Empires i see nothing i can put as game in the game list. And it is still not as installed program...

What do you mean you had to put it all on the list yourself? If you download it it should show in the list, you can't download it and not have it in the list.

The position of the mod seems to be fine, is the Steam install directory that one, or is it in Program files/Valve/Steam/?
In your my games list, is "installed games" open or not? You might be looking at the list of favorite games.
If Empires isn't in the list "installed games", try deleting clientregistry.blob in your Steam/ folder, make sure Steam is inactive. Start Steam after you deleted it, and let it update. then check to see if it's in the list.
If it's still not in the list, check Steam's support center for more help, because there would be a problem with your copy of Steam in that case.

So... you dont really own those games, you are just telling steam to launch their executables? Empires has no executable, it uses the hl2 executable, hence Empires is a MOD. Stop pirating valve games, they make great games and deserve money for them.

You shouldn't be able to play episode 2 without Steam, so if you're using a hacked copy, i can't help you any further.
