Yes and no. This is all if I recall correctly, you can't have 2 people in 2 command vehicles, but you could have 2 commanders via an exploit, usually done by the other team to recycle all your buildings, but then they couldn't have anyone in their command vehicle. So whilst I'm not sure of the nature of this bug, it might have been a 2 commander max, even if 2 were on 1 team, or that 1 player was still locked to the other commander's CV, it's hard to tell.
Is this an overall gameplay suggestion or just is it possible to spawn two CVs of the same team in the same map ?
Yeh, 2 CVs and 2 Commanders are 2 different things. If it's the latter, it's not possible in terms of mapping.
Its just weird. But it could be cool. Does it work like that if 1 person is in a CV no one can enter a CV no matter how many CVs are located on the map?
If you have multiple CVs per team in a map (whether you compile a map with those entities placed or use the cheat commands), then the map ends if any one of them is killed. From my experiences, you can't legitimately have two people in the commander interface simultaneously without invoking an exploit that has long since been fixed. I would however like to see how a game would play out on any standard classic map if it were "BE vs BE" or "NF vs NF" so that each team has pure equality in terms of structures, vehicles, and research strategies. That'd require too much work for the sake of experimentation though, and I wouldn't even dream of asking the developers to make it possible. It would be interesting to say the least, and could possibly suggest a thing or two about Empires gameplay.
give emp_imp_commander give emp_nf_commander those two commands should spawn a CV when used. unless I got the entity name wrong. anyhow, you can have 2 com vehicles on the map, but only the first will enable you to be in com view from my experience.
I think it should be possible with cheats to have 2 players in the commander seat of 1 or 2 cvs. But I have to test that first.
Either way, when 1 CV dies, it doesn't matter than 1 still remains... the round ends. It's the mechanics of the classic game type.
Thats sooo not true. No CVs left = Death. I once went on a server and someone griefed and they just spawned a new CV. The CV died but the game continued.
Okay, im an expert on this subject, dont ask why(way to much fucking free time.) You can spawn 2 CVs. If a player enters any of the cv's it locks all of them. If 1 CV dies that team loses regardless of how many CVs still exist. If a CV is killed. i.e. not kill shoot with bullets, kill as in "ent_fire !picker kill" the game will continue and that CV will just disappear. The only way to have more than 1 commander at any given time is trhough exploiting. I have tryed this through sourcemod and its not possible with otu an exploit or a code change in the mod.
The exploit was fixed. There can only be a total of 2 commanders. There was once an exploit where you could lock yourself in the commander, and then switch teams, but that was fixed in 2.2 (and a major reason for the delay).
You are mistaken, Satanchild. If you don't believe me, test it on Create a Server, by giving yourself another BE CV, or compile a map with multiple BE CVs. Kill one while you're on NF and the round will end.
command is ent_create emp_imp_commander with sv_cheats set to 1. game ends when 1 cv dies. Doesn't matter the status of the other.
it would be nice if in the game params entity you could set how many cv's of said team need to die to lose, or you can set how many teams are in game or anything like that
