Franklin rubbed his eyes. He peered out into the gloom of the night.
"No fuckin' point putting me on guard duty" he sighed to himself. From the top of the guard tower he could barely see the ground through the blizzard that had covered the base that evening.

He heard footsteps crunching through the snow.
"About fucking time" he muttered.
He listened as boots clanged against the steel of the ladder as his relief climbed to the tower.
The hatch on the tower floor opened slowly.
"Evening." Franklin said fighting back a yawn.
The man pulled himself up the hatch and turned to face Franklin.
"You're relieved."

Franklin noticed too late, he rose from the chair but the infiltrator had already drawn the pistol. Two silenced shots slammed into UrethraFranklin and he immediately collapsed.

The infiltrator closed the hatch behind him and descended down the ladder, his work done for the night. As he walked into the night, droplets of blood fell from the hatch and spattered themselves against the hard snow.
