Inability to download maps.

    Often times I find myself unable to download maps from the server despite having my settings enabled to do so, it will do everything else then end with "X map is missing", and as a result I can't play.

    So does anybody either have a master zip of every map or a solution?

    trickster says he has ALL of the maps even the ones we don't play anymore.

    - Client downloads customization files

    cl_downloadfilter all

    - Determines which files can be downloaded from the server (all, none, nosounds, mapsonly)


    If that doesnt help then its possible that the server has a variable set of maximum MB of the files that can be sent. If the map is bigger than this value then its just not gonna send it.

    "net_maxfilesize" = "16" min. 0.000000 max. 64.000000

    - Maximum allowed file size for uploading in MB)

    (only server admin can set this command/it must be done serverside)


    Or you can just download the packs of course.


    EDIT: I just noticed some maps have almost 200mb and I wonder whats the value set to on the servers (or if the 64 is really its maximum)

    Connect to Viper and there is a cvar (sv_downloadurl" that will show the download IP.

    Open web browser
    Go to "http://vipergameservers.com/empires/" click maps. or http://vipergameservers.com/empires/maps/Then pick the map you need.

    Do keep in mind that that is not a list of maps that are played on VIPER, but a list of maps available to be downloaded from VIPER.

    On top of that, that file won't necessarily include the minimap, res file, custom textures and other things that are necessary to actually play the map.

    So yes, you can download the map itself from that, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to play the map with it.

    I forget some times not everyone knows these things. Yes you need the materials also.

    Just get them all.

    Easy way use something like httrack http://www.httrack.com/
    Download every map, Material,
    Don't forget to un zip the maps. Or uses something to auto unzip them
    Merge with your empires.

    It was an obstacle course map. It has a name within CS:S but I forget it. I actually enjoyed it but the swap from hard collisions to soft collisions broke it because teamwork was required to get over some areas. It was fun to play for like 5v5 or something, it was really just a case of who could make it to the end first. It usually took like 20-30 minutes if I remember correctly.

    If you do that, then you can make sure that emp_deathkillers works by putting that line into its cfg file.
