I wanna try something, basically i was wondering if you guys could help me list all the benefits and weaknesses of certain classes. This overarching any playstyle, for example the gren can be played in several ways and still be successful... I only play gren as a frontal assault class and would use rifleman with stickies as a more defensive class... but im not blind and see others can pull him off very potently in defending bases.

SO basically... list PERSONAL pros and cons of each class and i will compile a list of them so i can get a better vision of how classes are used.

This works best if you be as descriptive in scenarios as possible and list the reasons WHY they are this... for example for the gren dont say 'good against tanks' say 'good against light tanks over range. -> rpg is effective over range with decent skill, especially over ranges where the light tank is not effective against infantry' Perhaps even more descriptive would be better.

Scout, best to boomtank with because of vehicle speed increase.

Engy, soo many things to do so always fun to play. Second best class to command as, gotta build all the bases your self 99% of the time.

Gren, like engy but with moar explosions.

Rifleman, to counter other rifleman though I can sometimes do that with gren.

Sorry if that ain't very specific, I have a habit of playing whatever looks fun even if it's not the best play at the time.

    https://wiki.empiresmod.com/Engineer
    https://wiki.empiresmod.com/Rifleman
    https://wiki.empiresmod.com/Grenadier
    https://wiki.empiresmod.com/Scout

Idk how much info is there... But if this is a "tactics and best strategies" thread? Then perhaps the information collated should be posted on a new wiki "class comparison" page?

Some table comparing each class and its relative effectiveness against infantry and vehicles perhaps?

EDIT: also, what about the kind of mini-builds that occur in games such as TF2? weapon combos that facilitate a specific playstyle?
we could do that in empires too...

Tf2 has tons of weapons to promote different play styles for each class. There's not so much of that in empires. I guess engy has several build styles thanks to skills, but most classes really tend to play the same outside of short range or long range combat.

This is one of the ultimate goals of this information for me.

    Rifleman:
    can quickly kill anything alive
ultimate killer of AFVs in close combat
can throw nades to annoy enemy grenadiers mortaring
every time one of them kills you you want to get rifleman too
    Engineer:
    excellent all-rounder
    the most tactical class ingame
lover of friendly tanks, but has no means against enemy tanks
friendly infantry loves him for ammo, camera, walls and reviving so he's a 'nice guy' of the team
not so 'nice' when there are ten tanks screaming for ammo
    Grenadier:
    ultimate wall destroyer
can annoy the hell out of enemy tanks after hitting them with ten rockets
loves killing turrets for extra points :)
    squad arty is magic
skillshotting with mortar in CQ is extra funny
    Scout:
can wreck your ass in CQ after getting out of Hide
    you want to kill him
    stickies CV at the end
also can sabotage things but it's not so common
    removal of ranged rifle when

Should we focus on 1 class at a time? Collect all the builds and such, then move on? Do this as a cooperative effort?

I assumed things would organize themselves organically but go nuts.

Just figured that if you were serious about this, we might aswell do it properly.

    Let's start with ENGINEER BUILDS

    Engineer
    + Can repair tanks
    + Can revive other players
+ Can build personal turret and camera
    + Can heal players
    + Can place ammo box
    + Useful in all situations
    + Gains points for repair/building

    - Mostly loses in gun fights to every other class at general range
    - Considered tedious to play

    Scout
+ Can use hide to become less visible and sneak up to turrets
+ Has the only specific sniper rifle in game
+ Can over heat vehicles with sticky stun
    + Can sabotage buildings
+ Can get vehicle speed boost

    - Slow moving class if using hide skill
    - Often played badly by new players using the sniper rifle creating a deficit in the team

    Rifleman
+ Best at all ranges of gun combat and can wreck teams of infantry with some skill
+ Had limited but quick throwing sticky nades to kill vehicles
+ Has large AOE explosive grenades for infantry combat
+ Has the most defence when considering dig in skill
+ Has a weapon damage increasing skill
+ Has a huge 25% damage buff skill when using tanks
+ Can use sticky nade on smaller buildings like turret farms

    - Useless for taking down large buildings

    Grenadier
+ Mortar can kill most infantry in 2 hits (1 if landed directly)
+ Rpg can be used to snipe turrets
+ Mines are effective against infantry and can be stacked up for tanks.
+ Can use defuse to ignore mines
+ Can take advantage of 9 mine technique to cause a large amount of damage in a generous AOE
+ Mortar can be used to effectively take out bases

    - Incredibly slow reload times on main weapons which makes missing not an option
    - Rpg's are slow and useless against anything but low level tanks due to speed of rpg, tanks can move and can rotate to another side of armour.
    - Rpg's guided mode stops it reloading until you let go which lowers its already low DPS
    - Building damage is easily countered by a single engineer which can lead to running out of ammo and giving the enemy engineer points for repairing and the gren gains nothing.
    - Mines are useless against defuse and multiple mines require being stacked to deal enough damage to tanks.
    - Lack of effective guns at close range combat

I was thinking a format more like this....

    ENGINEER BUILD:
    The Support:

As the name suggests, this build is entirely designed for supporting your squad mates. This is a more defensive playstyle since you will be focused on healing your teammates quickly and keeping them in the fight, rather than shooting your opposition.

    Weapons:
    Primary-> Any
    Secondary-> Any

    Skills:
    1) Revive -> You gotta be able to revive your teammates, the core of this build
    2) Repair Upgrade -> you gotta be able to build defenses fast and fix up tanks
    3) Health Upgrade -> more health to run into the line of fire and save a friend (very useful on infantry maps).
    4) Stamina\Speed Upgrade -> you will be running around a lot, so the extra mobility is key

    Tips:
    - let your squadmates go first, they can be revived, you can't.
    - establish defensive positions whenever your squad gets into a fight, place walls, a turret, and cameras/radars. These will help your squad know exactly where the enemy are, and keep you alive longer
    - keep to cover, try not to get shot

is this the kind of thing you were thinking @blizzerd

Allrounder in all situations, there literally is nothing you cant at least damage a bit 1 on 1... imo the solo play gold standard

Did you figured something out of these, blizzerd?
Also, can we debate about them now?
