Check out the second video on this page:

    http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/videos/

Rendered lighting on the fly? No need for 5 point entities just to make one proper light? After watching this, I can't help but feel that Hammer (which is still based on Quake 2 in many respects) just doesn't cut it anymore.

I hope NS2 is moderately open source and I can map for that when it comes out. Hell, maybe I should start pestering them now.

hammer is a russian submarine from the cold war

the submarine is rusty and cracking, but as long as the crew keeps stocking in wooden support beams, plugs any rust holes and closes off any flooded areas it can do a mission or 2... 3... maybe more

it looks like the way the creep spreads in starcraft. Unknown worlds and blizzerd really need to get in bed together to make some starcraft fps.

    Quake 1.

Q2 used QE4, (in addition to a couple of custom editors) which is radiant's great grandfather.

Mind you, the editor beeing demonstrated in the natural selection 2 devblog is not made for source, so as far as i know you can't use it (well, whenever they relese it ofc)

Also, hammer is not bad at all, it's straightforward and relible, not to mention allowing more freedome then allmost any other editor avaible since you are able to do more or less anything you want without having to contract a modeler to make you details

I wasn't saying that I'd be making source maps with it.

    technically yes, practically no

models don't seal up the void, 1 huge model makes the gains models give obsolete

Just put the model in a giant, hollow brush sealing it from the void.

I hope that you don't make any maps for Source mods.
