do you really think that consumer gas prices will ever sink again? for how long do you have a drivers license?
Yeah Petrol and Diesel prices might drop slightly, but they're never going to be even close to what they were 5-10 years ago. To be specific with the UK example, they'll never ever drop below £1 a litre again, and I'd be surprised if it ever got as low as £1.20.
I have a license for 7 years now and no, prices never really drop, but 1.70 € is the line where it really starts to hurt my wallet badly. Transportation prices have grown that much in the last 3 years that I consider moving to the town where I work, even though it's just 30 kilometers away from where I currently live. I'd be very fine with 1.48 € per liter super.
It's at $1.20 per liter here, much cheaper than what you guys seem to have. Then again, your standard is premum gasoline while here it's 87 octane. Might also be because oil is one of our natural resources.
its just a shame that we let drag us - or actually we are dragging ourselfs - into that same stupid scemes that caused great harm in the middle of the last century. can we for gods sake finally overcome nationalism ... and i dont mean the forum in specific. also you are right, "europe" isnt anything better. but you cannot really compair europe with america. europe (as the EU) only is a financial institution (sadly) there is about null identification among the populations in their everydays life. on a emotional level europe doesnt really exist, its only for the rich to get richer - not because its bad by design, but because economically interrests of individual countries are working against this. the average guy on the street still falls for simple answers like hitler gave in '33 godwin. you cannot simply judge europe like you judge the US, you can judge germany, france, greatbrittain, whatever country, they all do their own things - there isnt even a common foreign policy - apart from negativ stuff which "gets dictated by eu" (as excuse) ...
yeah its absurd how far people work away from where they live. especially since a lot could do their job at home ...
That's just because if you'd do the Arab thing and subsidise gasoline, you'd have to deal with half the population of Sweden coming over the border to fill up ever other day. What I don't understand is why you smelly fishermen haven't bought Greece yet? You'll want somewhere warm to kick back and spend all that oil money one day. :D
