Ok a post i made got me thinking. The post is regarding abrput game endings due to poor base and defense ninja techniques. Althought currently this is an acceptable stratergy it doesnt make for much fun. So instead of arguing with aload of douchebags about base defense i thought id start a poll about game length. How long do you think a game should last? Obviously there are maps on which tickets restrict time . Should easy 5 minuete wins be encouraged? or should the game mechanics favour a a longer more developed game?
0 - 10min building 10 - 30min fighting If it goes any longer, it's probably a lame turret war stalemate. Ideally it'll be constant battles with territory being gained and lost constantly.
Well thinking about ns, I think a game lasting 60 minutes without being a stalemate could be possible, so im going for the max. There should be comebacks, as much as possible. I have had a few games with a comeback after 5 mins that werent considered lame. But comebacks that all take place in the first 10 mins, plz god no
I voted thirty minutes because I'm used to thirty minute matches in Warcraft 3. I based it on no other information, especially none pertinent to Empires. Have a nice day.
Im thinking most people from an RTS background will want a game of at least 30 mins. Coming to think of it most games of DOD probobly last for around 15 mins at least so the FPS people are in there too.
I'd say a 45min to an hour at least. I've actually played some of the best games ever that took that long... but then again, I've also played massive stalemates that were roughly that long too... -Sheepe
Best ever game of NS I played in lasted 3 hours 19 mins.... It's not about time it's more about a good fight which sadly in empires, so far, does not include the NS style comebacks of which that game was the ultimate! If the teamwork is topnotch who cares how long it takes, you wont forget it.
